Hey guys, I have a better question. Is Sarah Palin running for president?
Why yes, in a sense she is.
She is running to be the Vice President.
What is the Vice President's #1 purpose? Backup President if the first one goes.

So, I guess it's better to say that she's running for Backup President, but thats a simple tiny detail which only matters if you live by the dictionary.

So, YES, she IS running for president, and I dare you to prove me wrong.

McCain is 72 isn't he? If he doesn't live to 76, a very possible occurance, Palin will be president.

If he wasn't so old, Palin possibly taking over wouldn't be an issue.

Honestly, age shouldn't have to do anything with this.
The whole point of the Vice President is to replace the President should anything happen. Age is not the only thing that kills people.

When you judging a Vice President, you need to think of that person in the terms of a President. THIS is the person that will take over if shit happens.

And I want to make a comment on that little quote of your's in the sig, Manic
There are some candidates who use change to promote their careers. And then there are those...who use their careers to promote change.

I find this incredibly ironic because Palin has changed her position not for personal reasons, but to either further her career or to ensure that it doesn't tank.

Like that Bridge to No Where.
Palin was a huge supporter for it and really pushed for that Bridge. And then the moment people started to call it "The Bridge to No Where", she opposed the bridge.
That is nothing more than changing to promote your career.

My reasons for having this quote in my signature have changed dramatically. At first, I thought it was a funny stab at Obama's campaign, but now it's clearly evident that she's the tool through which McCain hopes to get into the Oval Office, campaigning with the very same tactic that he attacks his rival for using. That gives me a good laugh. :)

For that same reason I believe she's not running in any sense. I'm not debating her competency or worthiness of the seat, but I believe that McCain and his administration are nearly 100% convinced that she will never need to take John's place. You can't predict an assassination or sudden heart-failure, but barring random tragedies that could really happen to anyone at all in that position, there's no reason to suspect that he'll kick the bucket. If there was, he would have made the smarter, much more sensible choice of going with Romney, the man I still believe should be the one at the presidential debates and commanding our country.

I'm not so stupid as to say that there's no chance at all that woman will end up being the POTUS, but what I am saying is that she's not running for the VP position in the same sense that any one person before her has.

She tries to ban book, leave her government position in disaray when she left to join mccain as Vp.

She fire anyone who doesn't agree with her, she would only abuse her power.

I don't know if these things are true or not. But that doesn't sound like something a good president would do.

Hey guys, I have a better question. Is Sarah Palin running for president? No but to try and help you in understanding why this is an important question. At McCains age there is a 20% chance he will die prior to ending his first term. That makes the fact that Palin could become President during this term an important question to ask in terms of her being ready.

So you think someone who has a degree in Molecular Biology would be an effective Supreme Court Justice, able to interpret the Constitution and the Laws?

Because I'd be interested to know if you think someone who say, has a PhD in Astronomy, can pass the Bar test in, say, the state of Louisiana without having taken any part of a Law Degree.

Or if someone who has a PhD in Physics can help in the legal parts of a merger between two companies, when he does not have a law degree, or has never studied law at a University.

nomdeplume

So you think someone who has a degree in Molecular Biology would be an effective Supreme Court Justice, able to interpret the Constitution and the Laws?

I think so, actually. Because I know the scientist will at least have a firm background in logic. Take a look at Obama's supposed knowledge of the Constitution. According to him, the gun ban was constitutionally sound, but then the supreme court ruled it was just not so, suddenly Obama says that they made the right decision. So is Obama saying that the "unconstitutional" choice is the correct choice? OR maybe Obama doesn't know wtf he is talking about regardless if he has a supposed education in that or not.

The presidency is an executive office. Several things make you qualified for the position: being a mayor, running a business/being a CEO, being a governor, understanding economics, understanding the multitude of foreign policy issues.

Of these, Palin has 3 down. Obama has maybe 1. But I guess 1 out of 5 ain't bad after a few gallons of kool-aid.

Nope. I have tremendous respect for ivy leaguers who are from a science background. But for those of us who have actually gone through college, which you probably have not, we know full well how pathetic the non-science courses actually are. A chimp could ace those classes. Now try organic chemistry, physical chemistry, or real analysis, and these supposed smart people who aced "BSing 101" and "repeat my opinions on exam day 201" flunk out.

The ivy league is more about class and family connections then it is about intelligence or knowledge.

You spend most of it allocating and planning future allocation of resources: financial, military, and human resources. The only educational experience any of the candidates, president or vice president, in this election that is applicaple to the presidency is McCain being a commanding officer in the military. And Palin has about the only practical executive experience. Governors are "mini-presidents".

Dude you started the name calling with him....or have you forgot the whole kool'aid gangsta line?

Who did I call a name? All I see is you two getting owned and crying about it.

One of the President's main duties is as the Commander in Chief of the Military. They are the highest ranking officer at any time (excluding George Washington, no one can ever "outrank" him).

Wow you really are a person who likes to just shit on everyone else. I am a computer scientist, my sister is getting a degree in Chinese and International Relations, I don't think anyone in my field or the sciences could do her job. So is her degree a joke? Do you know everything that has to do with a certain law, how to get around it, when it's used and why?
To that dumb A who said that Obama didn't know how many states there where and that they have a higher education, I truly doubt it. It was a mishap in his speech and he had said 57 because they didn't go to 1 state on in the continental US which would be 47. So what about the fact that Palin made rape victims pay to get checked out? What about McCain not knowing how many houses he has? Don't try and throw out one mistake when all politics have hundreds you **** ****. For example Biden has done over 100 interviews since he had been nominated for VP, now it's been what 2 months since then? Times that by 9 to get how long this presidential crap has been going on, we are looking at 900 interviews and speeches, do you honestly think in that many you are never going to have a mistake?
Nome you started it by saying any degree but a science degree is a joke and anyone can do it. Science degrees require a different mind set then a law degree.

she considers having experience in foreign policy becuase she is close to russia! then by that reasoning I have more experience than her.

she clearly doesn't even know what she is doing just watch the vids.

Obama even with the little experience he has, atleast he has much more than Palin.

Fine, I got some time before work. I can entertain you a bit.

This is a guy who thnks the united states has 60 states
I am guessing you mean when he said that he's visted 58 states, correct?
He intended to say 48. The difference between speaking of the two is not a lot.
Fifty Eight
Fourty Eight

The thing to pay attention to is not the numbers, but the speaking of the numbers. It's still a mistake, but if thats an issue, then something like McCain not knowing how many houses he owns should be a much greater concern.
A house is something that you don't just pick up, no matter how rich you are. Buying a house is often a desicion that takes at least a couple of weeks of thinking about.
And now, if he can't even remember how many houses he has, how is he going to remember important information key to his job?
Already he has been mixing up the titles of Bills, a key aspect of his job.
And Palin has been unable to remember what position she even supports.
When asked about her Position about Pakistan, the solution was exactly what Obama proposed, completely oppisite of what McCain proposed.
http://blogs.abcnews.com/politicalradar/2008/09/palin-supports.html
The excuse that McCain gave for her (she can't even excuse her own mistakes???) is this:
"She was in a conversation with some young man," McCain said during his own interview Sunday on ABC's "This Week." "She understands and has stated repeatedly that we're not going to do anything except in America's national security interest and we are not going to, quote, announce it ahead of time."So, basically what he's saying is that Palin just bull-shitted the people that asked her about her Pakistan position (lets remember, once of those was a reporter part of an offical interview), and that what she says isn't the actual policy.

If thats not some f*cked up shit, I don't know what is.

and doesn't even know what the fucntion of the joint chiefs of staffs is.
VS Palin, who doesn't know what the Vice President does?
One doesn't know what the people around him do or someone that doesn't know what they do...
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2008/08/29/sarah-palin-what-exactly_n_122514.html

Not to mention also that what Obama said was a generalization on that he's going to get the Iraq war finished.
I don't like generalizatiosn myself, but it's far different from actual lack of knowledge.

If this moron gets elected, this country is completely fubared. This idiot is like half Hitler half Carter and all bad.
Oh, you mean like how it isn't already?
Because the actions that McCain proposes are the same as what Bush Jr has been doing. Granted, McCain does bad-mouth Bush through out this election. He's got to do something to distance him from Bush, I guess. But his polocies have stayed the same. And he has been working with Bush and supporting Bush all through the last two terms, up until he started running for Office.
Clearly a change in heart only so he's not associated with Bush's bad image.

Well, thats all I have time for now.

That doesn't answer my other two questions. I'm challenging your statement that a non-science degree is "complete" garbage and a waste of time.

Also, you need more than logic to be able to rule effectively on laws. You need to have studied law, otherwise you don't have a freaking clue how to read the laws. Without looking it up (which you probably will, anyway), can you tell me what abeyance means? Obiter dicta? An overt act? An omnibus clause? Can you tell me the procedure of how the Court deals with fictitious defendants? No, someone who code a person's genetic code cannot effectively rule as a judge, or even help as a lawyer in things of law.

If you can answer these questions as well as the other ones I asked, I'd honestly be surprised.

More personal attacks instead of any cogent arguments from you, eh? Whose the troll, again? Or maybe you are just an expert in backwards logic and giving a great demonstration to prove it?
That wasn't a personal attack. He was calling your statement illogical and stupid, not you yourself. Did your "science education" cover logical and debating fallacies?

Honestly, I'll almost feel guilty voting for McCain because of Palin (nothing personal, she's just not my cup of tea).
LOL I totally thought that was Phantom of the Opera w/o the mask on then I was like oh wait it's two face.
First of all, its funny I already explained the 57/58 states thing yet it got ignored. Second there was a great article on the two candidates that discussed them as standing senators, which is a very rare thing to have for president. The last one was JFK in 1960 before that it was Harding in 1920. The writer is a political historian for Princeton and was not taking a side but stating some interesting things. A standing senator is someone who is currently in the senate and his opinion was that it is better to have one of them go for president then a mayor or Governor. The main reason is because they have to vote during their presidential campaign or did earlier and we know their track record and views. A Governor and mayor that is harder to do, they don't have to get involved in big issues such as our crisis at the current time. The senators do. Just thought I would mention that. I am actually a person the exact opposite extreme of you nom, I am thinking of leaving the country if McCain becomes president because I have a feeling our economy will fall even more. As well I vote more on social issues then war or economics (economics is second). I will try as hard as I can to keep someone who is pro-life and anti stem cell research from being in the white house for another 4 years. The US has already lost being number 1 in this future giant business (Which will be worth trillions in the next few decades) (We talking about cloning and stem cell here).

Thats where you're wrong, because I, to a degree agree with everything you said.

China is a communist dictatorship and has horrible human right violations.
Japan, well, no offence to any of the japanese, but you guys have some of the weirdest interests... I wouldn't say all the cartoons are stupid. The ones that become main-stream are quite stupid though. And they are they also have the greatest advancment in robotics. But they also do some pretty weird things with their technology.
And the middle-east is a cluster-f*ck of a bunch of religions who are all pissed off at each other and are fighting over the same spot of land. And the only reason there are groups mad at us is because we involved ourselves in their fights and picked a side some years ago. And they arn't forgetting that.

How exactly is it a burden?

I mean in the US, were you pick people, to pick the president for you, on the basis of which people they would pick;
what burden of which responsibility?

How is anyone responsible for anything in this miraculous event, not that it would even be a big deal if they just walked up to your house and ask solely you to decide;
After all you only got the balzing amount of two pre-made picks that you can choose and to understand the difference between a Republican and a Democrat isn't exactly rocket science...
