I'm thinking of getting guild wars but I can't decide on which one to get.
Should I get the original?
Or Factions?
Or wait till NightFall comes out?

Well I would think you should get factions first but I need to tell you one thing about it (although you may already know it).
When you get to pick what you want to play you can choose between a PVP acount or an RPG. When they say RPG dont think it doesnt mean its not online and therefore refuse to play it! Me and my brother made that mistake and weeks later I thought I will make a single player acount and figured out it reallư was online and how much good stuff I missed :( . Oh well.:p

P.S
When is nightfall coming out?

Get Factions, as much as I don't like recommending the idea of getting the 2nd chapter without the 1st.

Prophecies (give or take popular outposts) is basically empty and the game is much harder and less fun if you are forced to bring henchies on quests and missions.

The bad thing is, the same thing will happen with Factions (and still to Prophecies) once Nightfall comes out, and so on. That's why I stopped playing the game alltogether once Factions came out.

Getting Prophecies first would be the smarter thing to do in my opinion. I don't have the game yet either but when I do get it, I don't care if Factions is cheaper, nor if Nightfall is out. (Im a freak who wants to go along with the story). But really, thats just what I would get first, but you should really go get what you think would be more fun. No point in getting prophecies and play it just to find out how much you regret not getting factions first. Good luck in choosing, tough decision for everyone :p :p

My recomendation is to buy prophecies first, and add on aditional chapters as they come along. It is longer and harder to level a character in prophecies, but much more worth it. There are more skills avaiblable in prophecies than in factions for purchase and there are more skills available by simply completing quests. Also, if you only buy factions, there is going to be alot of things not available to you. If you are going to be a pvp'er, your certainly gonna want both, the most important builds are usually made up of skills from both campaigns. And if you are going for the pve experience, your certainly gonna miss out on the excellent farm runs there are in tyria if you only buy factions, especially underworld and fissure of woe.

theyre all stand alone games, but i strongly suggest you to get the prophecies one first, then go along as the chapters go
also, nightfall isnt coming out anytime soon

Well I suggest you buy Prophecies first then add Factions to your account. That way you have every skill the game will offer, every weapon type, every armor, every proffesion with all its skills, 2 big continents to explore, lots of pvp action and pve too.

The game is not empty even if Factions is coming and will never be because players can travel between continents.

When Nightfall comes, this fall. Alot of players will go there but soon new characters created on Nightfall will start traveling to Tyria and Cantha.

Buying Factions alone is like reading a book halfway through.

Alright I'd say if you're for grinding go right ahead and get prophecies. If you want to reach the highest level fastest then get factions. The thing is, Prophecies, rewards are very often weapons and equipment, in factions it's just a crapload of experience and every once in a great while a shield or something. That's how I see it, took me about 40 hours on a character in prophecies to get him to level 20. Took me about 10-12 hours on a factions character to get him to level 20. Also they are two DIFFERENT storylines, though I believe the prophecies storyline is better.
