Songs played backward reveal 'satanic' messages. I know its old news but i just wanna know what you think. Spookiest would be ELO - Fire on High, but that sounds to obviously set up.. o_O

*Ponders*

the thing about it is if you read the thing that tells you what it says you will hear it. That is why i do not believe this.

I stumbled upon this site 2-3 years ago. Great fun.

The world could learn a lot from Weird Al's 'Satan eats Cheez Whiz' comment.

yea, a majority of songs can be reversed, and people can make it seem like theyre saying satan and stuff.... only a few songs even purposely make it be reversed into something real (wierd al s nature trail thing..)

You can actually try it yourself, get some sort of audio editor and play the music backwards yourself. The creator isn't editing anything.

What do I think about this? Recording artists have way too much time on their hands.

I think he missed the Jay Z song that says "Six Six Six Murder Murder Jesus" when played backwards. Don't believe me? Download "Interlude" from the Black Album and use Quicktime to play it backwards. Pretty weird.

Some songs DO have strange lyrics backwards, but I second Raeyo. Reading the lyrics that you're supposed to hear makes you pick out noises to hear these specific lyrics. However, if you listen to it beforehand and read the lyrics afterwards, you'll have a hard time understanding. It's like a placebo; you say it'll cure the common cold right away and the person believes you; but in the end, it's just a sugar pill.

I agree. Except for the Weird Al song. That one is obvious that it's real. And off topic: your avatar could kill kittens, y'know (if you don't get the joke, look at the Azumanga gif in Kite's sig.. rofl)

There's not enough shown for me to do anything, but... then again, imagination works wonders.

Doing what Kittyslick said... they're either obsessed with trying to find lyrics in reversed songs, or they're completely bored and gave it a shot.

Some people just get lucky in the songs they pick.

Reverse speech was hypothesis first put forward by David John Oates. It was widely publicized on the radio show of Art Bell.

Oates' claim is that every time humans speak they convey two related sentences, only one of which we can hear naturally. The second message is embedded backwards into the person's speech.

This means that if a person's statement was recorded and played backwards, the speaker's unconscious thoughts could be heard. The most famous recording that allegedly demonstrates this is the speech given by Neil Armstrong at the time of the moon landing, in which, if played backwards, the words "small step for man" become a supposedly clear "man will spacewalk".

The presence of negatively influencing, even neo-satanism-themed reverse speech has been argued to be present in heavy metal music by some conservative groups, claiming that this music made or can make their children perform antisocial acts.

However it has been argued that without prompting no one would hear this phrase, and only once we had been told what to listen for would we hear it.

(1) Human speech has two distinctive yet complementary functions and modes. The Overt mode is spoken forwards and is primarily under conscious control. The Covert mode is spoken backward and is not under conscious control. The backward mode of speech occurs simultaneously with the forward mode and is a reversal of the forward speech sounds.

(2) These two modes of speech, forward and backward, are dependent upon each other and form an integral part of human communication. One mode cannot be fully understood without the other mode. In the dynamics of interpersonal communication, both modes of speech combined communicate the total psyche of the person, conscious as well as unconscious.

(3) Covert speech develops before overt speech. Children speak backwards before they do forwards. Then, as forward speech commences, the two modes of speech gradually combine into one, forming an overall bi-level communication process.

I think this is the case of reverse speech...

So BoA. When you speak does it say "I'm going to rape BoA" when played backwards?
