Alright I plan on eventually opening up a video game making buisness however there is something I want to get cleared up so I can know what to do in college. Exactly what classes am I going to have to take in college to learn how to program/make the graphics. The current college im looking at has computer science listed as a class but I am not entirely sure that would be the class im looking for.

If I plan on making video games I am also wondering if there are side classes that may improve my programming skill basically im asking you what I generally need to take or if a computer programming class covers the graphics designing/programming I am going to need to code advanced video games. I know I could learn some things using the free stuff around the internet but im pretty sure it would be a good idea to take these programming classes anyway just to make sure I can do it professionally.

Thanks in advance

What college are you looking into?
Usually you will want to check with your college the degrees they offer and what type of classes they have. Each college is different.
In the current college I am attending during High school all programming classes are called computer science, you will also see a number after them. In my case it is C SCI. Now also at mine if it is C SCI 142 or 144 it is a C++ programming class, and if it is C SCI 143 and 145 it is a Java programming class.
Most likely you are looking at a college that probably offers a Computer Science Bachelors degree. Some even offer a Masters. But the first thing you will need is a Computer Science AA. Or it is called a AAS. Now the AAS there are two types usually, one involves life science such as Biology or chemistry majors and the other is a computer science major, which involves high level math, physics and programming. The high level math is a year of level 2 calculus and the physics is high level that incorporates all the math you are doing. If you know 100% you are going to open a video game making business I would suggest going to a college that offers that degree. Currently there are only a few that actually do that. One being MIT, and another being Digipen. They are both expensive colleges but offers up to a bachelors in Video Game Making. Now also in the degree you will choose which you want to major in, which is done after either a AA or a bachelor. The 2 areas I can recall are graphics making and programming. In either case you will have to learn both, but one you will only do minimal work while the other you will become a pro at. If you have any questions feel free to ask.

EDIT: Also at some colleges if you can already do basic to mid level programming you can get a pass for the basic level programming course. There are two ways one may do this, if the class is required 100% for the class (Meaning that exact class and not just the category) you can usually pay $50-$200, and take a test, if you pass the test then you get that credit and do not need to take the class. The second way is you may talk with the professor teaching the class and some times they will give you the Okay to skip the basic level class and move into the higher level class. Now you may be thinking that spending $50-$200 isn't worth it, but think of it as, when paying college tuition, you are paying per credit, and each class is usually 5 credits. So you are probably saving $500-$3000, depending on the college.

Hmm interesting thanks for the info, I need to call the college up and talk to their computer department see exactly what their computer science course offers. The college im looking at is Freed Hardmen University in Henderson, tennessee its a private Christian college so id rather not go to another university. However they do have a partner ship with another small private university that may have what I need plus ive heard there are tons of other colleges around the area so I might be able to work something out if I have to convene to a different university for the computer courses I need. The college im planning on going to does have an excellent buisness program however so I plan on going there still. Like I said before thanks for the information:)

Yes I will edit this in a bit, but you will want a business degree as well, usually you can double major and get a bachelors in both or a Masters in one and a Bachelors in the other. But now a days many people are saying a Masters just isn't worth it because of the different in money you will be making doesn't justify the total cost of 2 more years of college with the interest.
Edit: your school it Freed Hardeman University. :)
Here is a site that gives you some information about the computer science classes
http://www.fhu.edu/soSM/m_compscience.asp
This is the courses
http://www.fhu.edu/soSM/cd_mcs.asp
It seems to be the same as the CC I am going to.

Directly from the site
The department offers baccalaureate minors in Computer Science and in Mathematics, a B.S. major in Computer Science, a B.S. major in Mathematics and teacher licensure in mathematics.
So they do offer a Bachelor in computer science.

If you want to see the class Catalogs here is a link to both undergraduate and graduate.

The college I will be attending is called IADT. (website (http://www.iadt.ca/))

Anyway, they offer a degree in Game Design, so the courses are pretty much pre-selected.

But, I would guess you would take any and all courses in programming, JAVA, C, C++, and all other programming launguages that are avalible. It depends which area you intend to go into, if you want to be a programmer, you definitly want to take extra programming courses, if you want to go into 'philosphys' and become lead designer or ("the ideas person") you will want psycology, and game history courses. Sound, you obviously want Music classes, as well as drawing classes if you plan on game art.
