4 Job Guide-Maple Story
An Introduction
Maple Story is a 2D RPG game based in a computer generated world. During your time playing Maple Story you can hunt monsters, do quests, collect rare items and become rich. Maple Story is a very social game in which you will meet many friends and enemies. Although it has 2D graphics, it has an excellent game play system.
About the 4 Jobs
In Maple Story you have the choice of becoming a Magician, Bowman, Thief or Warrior. Before I explain about the 4 jobs, I would like to say THERE IS NO BEST CLASS. All have their own strengths and weaknesses, periods of advantage and disadvantage. Choose what class you like and think suits you, not what people tell you to become because there is no best class.
Here is a brief description of all 4 classes:
The Warrior
Warriors are fighters that use swords, axes and any other close combat weapons to engage combat. Warriors have naturally high health to help them stay alive while fighting and are the most brutal and strong of all four classes.
Pros: Powerful, low maintenance cost, high HP
Cons: Low MP, must fight close up, always get KSed, skills not as good as others
Primary Attribute: Strength
Secondary Attribute: Dexterity
Combat Method: Close Quarter Melee
HP: High
MP: Low
My personal opinion and recommendations: Personally I’m not too fond of warriors; however, they are a good choice for beginners and make money easily because they don’t have a required material to attack.
The Archer
As most of you should know, archers use a bow or Xbow and fire arrows to fight. Archers are ranged attackers that have a balanced HP and MP and have the greatest range of all classes.
Pros: Long range, cheap maintenance, highest damage
Cons: Must melee if monster gets to close, minimum damage too low
Primary Attribute: Dexterity
Secondary Attribute: Strength
Combat Method: Ranged Attack
HP: Medium
MP: Medium
My personal opinion and recommendations: Archers are cool on all areas except the fact that they will have problems taking on big groups of monsters close quarters and their minimum damage is so low. The only thing I really dislike about archers are their minimum damage.
The Thief
Thieves are fighters that are very mobile; they have high avoidability and have two choices in weapons; claw (tool used for throwing stars) and daggers. Thieves have better mobility over other classes in the fields of jump, speed and the fact they can do jump attacks.
Pros: Good mobility, jump attack, looks cool
Cons: High level equipment (stars) is expensive
Primary Attribute: Luck
Secondary Attribute: Dexterity
HP: Low-Medium
MP: Low-Medium
My personal opinion and recommendations: I like thieves because they look cool. What I don’t like about them is their low HP and MP. That is as an overall. Look below at the specific classes for more specific opinions. I’d recommend thief to those who like to move around a lot and want to move fast and have good jump.
The Magician
Mages study the art of magic all their life and therefore have low stamina and strength. However, their magical energies are great and they use it to their advantage. They have very stable and consistent damage and have a ranged attack and do not become useless at close quarters. It makes up for their lack of strength and agility.
Pros: High/Consistent Damage, High level MP
Cons: Low HP, hard to level at the start, become weaker at the end, max damage increases slightly per level
Primary Attribute: Intelligence
Secondary Attribute: Luck
HP: Low
MP: High
My personal opinion and recommendations: Mage is my personal favorite class. I don’t recommend you start with it off with it mainly because of its difficulty to train from lvl 6-till mana claw is maxed because its damage is pathetic and is very costly (mana elixirs made me broke!). However, they have the best skills and damage so if you have the patience and money, it is recommended. It would help to use a warrior to earn money then supply your mage.
Now that you have a good idea of all four classes, we can continue with the guide.
What Should I Choose?
Having trouble choosing classes? I can probably give you a small lead.
Mages: Like to do consistent damage and cool ranged attacks? Mage is for you.
Archer: Look cool, have a really high maximum damage and can shoot really far.
Warrior: If you are a brutal person who’d love to rush in and kill all close up, warrior is for you.
Thief: For those who love to move fast, sneak around and wear the coolest clothing, I’d recommend thief.
Hopefully I helped.

The Cities of Maple Story
In Maple Story there are many towns and islands for you to explore.
MAPLE ISLAND
Maple Island is the beginner island which floats in the sky, safe from all dangerous monsters. When you first begin the game, you start here. It is very safe, with only snails and mushrooms prowling the wilds.
Amherst
Amherst is a peaceful town located on Maple Island. It is a city for travelers to rest in and get necessary supplies.
South Perry
If you are looking to leave Maple Island, talk to the captain of the ship there and he will cruise you down to Victoria Island. There is no going back once you have left.
VICTORIA ISLAND
Unlike Maple Island, Victoria Island is filled with dangerous monsters and its landmass is many times larger than that of Maple Island. Here you can make job advancements and take on more challenging quests.
Lith Harbour
Lith Harbour is the dock of Victoria Island. When you first arrive from Maple Island, you will land here. You can also take off to Florina Beach from here (I don’t recommend beginners to go there). Basically, Lith Harbour is the beginner town of Victoria Island.
Perion
Perion is right up north of Victoria Island in the most mountainous regions of the Island. The chief of warrior resides there and if you wish to become a warrior, speak to him.
Ellinia
The magical forest Ellinia is on the east side of Victoria Island. It is the magically blessed home of the magicians; if you are looking to become a magician come here and speak to Hines.
Kerning City
If you want to see a modern city, come to Kerning City. It is located on the west side of Victoria Island and it is infested with thieves. If you are interested in becoming a thief, speak to the leader of their gang in the Fusion Bar.
Henneys
The peaceful town Henneys is also the home to the archers and can be found on the south part of Victoria Island. To become an archer, talk to Helena and she may grant your wish.
Sleepywood
At the centre of Victoria Island, it leads to the dungeon, a place with many fearsome monsters not seen above. If you venture here, make sure you are prepared.
GUIDE TO MAKING THE PERFECT CHARACTER
Here is what most of you want and I’ll grant your wish. The guide to making the perfect character is at your exposal!
The Magician
Stats to Roll:
Str: 4
Dex: 4
Int: As high as possible
Luk: *
Because total AP you can start with is 25, if you have 4 and 4 str and dex the other side must be at least 17. I put “INT as high as possible” because the more INT you have the more MP you increase per level. Roll as high as possible for a boost on the first few levels. However, it is not necessary. You could put it like this:
Str: 4
Dex: 4
Int: *
Luk: *
Maintenance on AP
Every level, make sure you have LVL=LUK+3 and add the rest of your AP on INT. Str and Dex remains the same throughout the mages life. You need LVL=LUK+3 because items need that to be worn.
Never add AP on mana or HP as it is unnecessary and it will put you behind. Str and Dex is not required for a mage! Don’t be tempted to add any points.
Maintenance on SP:
Firstly, you need to max out Increasing Max Mana. It is necessary to have it maxed as soon as possible as it will greatly affect the amount of MP you have.
Here is how it should be each level:

Should look something like that.
Other useful things to note:
Add Luck as late as possible to squeeze in more Intelligence every level, but still get the luck for wearing equipment in as well. This way you will get more MP per level, thus increasing your maximum by more than average. However, this method requires more precise planning and working out and is recommended for only the very serious player.
Here is a common mistake by noobs: Adding Magic Armor instead of Magic Guard. Why not magic armor some may ask. It has better defense and it doesn’t take off my MP. Once you are up to a stage where monsters hit more than your HP, you will need to have a good protection. Monsters such as Taurospears that hit over 500 will one hit you and even if you have magic armor, it will save you 50 damage or less. However, magic guard takes 80% of the damage and puts it to MP no matter how high hitting the opposing monster is. Therefore, Magic Guard is obviously the better choice.
MAGE HUNTING GUIDE
LEVEL 1-8:
Green and blue snails on Maple Island.
Level 9-15:
Snails at Henneys Hunting Ground.
Level 16-20:
Slimes at The Tree That Grew I.
Level 21-30:
Horny Top/Green Top Mushrooms in Tree Dungeon or any other place with fast spawn (NOT HENNEYS HUNTING GROUND; TOO CROWDED!)
Note: Green Mushrooms aren’t recommended because Horny Top Mushrooms give more EXP for more or less the same amount of hits.
Mage Gear
I will tell you what armor to get every 5 levels (anything not listed is unnecessary):
For Male:
Level 8:
Weapon: Wooden Wand (Buy from shop)
Level 13:
Weapon: Hardwood Wand (Buy from shop)
Overall: Plerobe (buy from shop)
(Level 15):

Level 28:
Weapon: Mithril Wand (buy from shop)
Overall: Wizard Robe (buy from shop)
Level 30:
Hat: Pinter (kill monsters; refer to drop guides)
Earrings: Any level 30 of your choice (You might get it from Alex or PQ)
Boots: White MagicShoes (Nella Lvl 25 Quest)
The Warrior
Stats to Roll:
Str: As high as possible
Dex: *
Int: 4
Luk: 4
I do not need to explain this, read the mage guide part for an explanation. (INT on mage is like STR on warrior)
Maintenance on AP:
Every level ensure that Dex=Lvlx2 and all the other AP will go on strength. INT and LUK remain at 4 (or whatever it started with).
At level 30 your dexterity has to be at least 50 or you will have trouble killing the monsters to advance.
Maintenance on SP:
Priorities (VERY IMPORTANT):
MAX OUT MAX HP INCREASE AS SOON AS POSSIBLE! For reasons, refer to mage guide (for warrior, MP on mage is HP on warrior and Max HP on warrior is Max MP on mage so just reverse it).
1. 5 Pts on Recovery
2. Max out Max HP Increase
3. Max out Power Strike
This is where it splits up.
If you are going offensive type warrior:
1 Pt on Endure
Max out Slash Blast
Remaining pts on Recovery
If you are going to defensive type warrior:
3 Pt on Endure
Max out Iron Body
Remaining pts on recovery
Other Useful things to note:
Don’t forget to add Power Strike. Some may think it is nothing special but without it, warrior is very weak.
I would recommend offensive type warrior as slash blast is very useful.
Use minimum amount of pts on endure as possible; it should only be used as an emergency skill.
Warrior Hunting Guide
Lvl 1-10: Snails
Lvl 11-20: Slimes
Lvl 21-30: Mushrooms (green and blue)

***COMING SOON***
THE ARCHER
Stats to Roll:
Str: *
Dex: *
Int: 4/5
Luk: 4/5
Read mage guide for explanations on how this works. It is all similar, just convert mages primary attributes and secondary attributes to archer and it will all work out.
Maintenance on AP:
Very simple: Str=Lvl+5 and all remaining pts go on Dex.
Str is necessary for wearing items later on and it helps when you get to close.
Maintenance on SP:
Firstly put 3 pts on Amazons Bless.
Max out Amazons Eye.
Max out Critical Shot.
Put 1 Pt on Arrow Blow.
Max out Double Shot.
Add remaining pts on Amazons Bless.
Don’t add ANY SP on Arrow Blow after the 1st Pt and don’t add any focus. Those are the useless skills of archer. Amazons bless is not as necessary as other skills; all archer 1st lvl skills are all based on hitting higher and higher, not improving the lower damage.
As I said above, archers have terrible minimum damage until 2nd job weapon mastery skills. You could have a max hit of 300 whereas your minimum hit is 30. That’s the biggest problem with all classes (especially archer and the exception of mage); they all have bad damage. All classes except mage only get masteries in 2nd Job.
Archer Hunting Guide
Lvl 1-10: Snails on Maple Island.
Lvl 11-15: More snails or maybe slimes at Henneys Hunting Ground I.
Lvl 16-20: Slimes at The Tree that Grew I (may have trouble if spawn is too fast)
Lvl 21-30: Green Mushrooms at Henneys Hunting Ground; stand on the side and shoot, or you could do tree dungeon for horny and blue top mushrooms.
Archer Gear
***COMING SOON***
THE CLAW THIEF
BENIFETS OF CLAW OVER DAGGER: Higher attack damage, ranged.
Stats to Roll:
Str: 4
Dex: *
Int: 4
Luk: *
Ignore Luk and Dex, just get Str 4 and Int 4 because total AP will equal 25 and 4 and 4 is the minimum you can get. The higher INT/STR to start with does not apply with thieves because STR must be kept at 4 or else you will lack 1AP behind perfect thieves (hey you want to be as perfect as possible right?).
Maintenance on AP:
Before lvl 10 you need 25 DEX to become a rogue anyways, but after that put AP on LUK until DEX is less than double your level, put AP on it to make it back to double, and from there on just 2 DEX 3 LUK to maintain DEX=Lvlx2.
Maintenance on SP:
This is rushed; ill make it better later on.
Max Keen Eyes
Max Lucky Seven
3 Disorder
10 Dark Sight
Rest on Nimble Body.
Soz but im not sure if this is accurate. Juz did it roughly. WILL BE FIXED!

Lvl 1-10: Snails
Lvl 11-20: Slimes
Lvl 21-30: Mushrooms (green and blue)
