Warcraft 3

starcraft is still a good RTS

Age of Empires 3 my favorite.

Warhammer 40k was a good one that had me hooked for a VERY long time.

rise of nations series, my favorite one though is rise of nations: rise of legends =) :

Basically the game is set in a fantasy world where you can play as 3 races, the vinci, alin and cuotl.
the vinci use a wide arsenal of steam powered, clockwork machines as well as projectiles and explosives!

The Alin are the magical fantasy race in the game, with an arabian vibe,they wield magic to create their armies, which are made out of fire, sand and glass.

And the last race is the cuotl,a race of ancients(they look like and make buildings which look similar to the aztecs) who live in the rainforests of Aio (the world this game takes place on) they use advanced technology and love shooting lasers at you O_o

Pssh... I still say RoN was a wannabe EE. But yeah, WC3 TFT is a good online game, except when there's so many ****ing DotA fan boys on at once they clog the custom game list with DotA. I hate ****ing DotA fan boys... They should just make their own stand-alone game so it's not clogging up the WC3 servers so much. But yeah, besides that it's pretty good. We've seen a lot of new, innovative games lately, like NOTD: Aftermath, Naval Combat, etc. DoW is also great. Especially if you can find someone who's worked out to get mods to work online and is using half-scale mod. Things get crazy.

yeah, Warhammer 40k (WA) is one of the best rts' out there, not the usual build some houses and produce units like a freighttrain and kick the other one's behind. It has a good waypoint system and the fact that you can create squads instead of units is something new too. And second, Rise of Legends is idd one impressive rts game. i recently 'acquired' it by means of mysterious ways .. (??!!). yet i've only played the prelude of the first campaign, where, appearantly, one well known guy always gets smashed by an avalanche.

Yeah, but ever since they dropped the cheesy cutscenes while making Generals, things just aren't the same. Those cheesy cutscenes really brought things together.
