If you are not gona read my post, just read the last paragraph before you tell me to go play mechwarior XX
Well, I don't know how many (if any) of you ever played Battletech Solaris, however here is the quick run down:
It was very much like the Mechwarrior games in play style (as they are both built off of the Battletech universe), large mech, beating down on each other, PPCs, Flammers, Heatsinks, torso twist, all that jazz.
The kicker on Sollaris was that you joined one of the factions (in this case the cut it down to 4 of the larger ones) and you were fighting it out for Solaris. Each game was a quick little DM between 2 of the clans, each droping 1-8 people in. After one side gathered enough wins in a sector they would controll that sector and would be able to push on from there. Ofcourse you also had to make sure you had people defending your frontier or you would find some one barking up your heals.
So, instead of it being one giant persistant world (think Planetside), you Had a large map that you fought for pieces of in small battles. This is actualy the key thing that I am looking for. It was this type of conflict, where you knew each battle you fought was helping your clan push back the scum from YOUR lands. There have been one or 2 other games that I played like this, and I am tryign to figgure out if any one else know of one.
Thanks for your help guys :)

The Mech factor is not necesary (one of the other games that I played like it was sorta like subspace, in that it was a top down space ship game, but you got to upgrade your ship ALOT, was rather cool).
I never atcualy looked up what GW: Factions was offering...
Though in all honesty I don't realy like the combat style of GWs (I do own it, I just don't play all that much)....
I would also ofcourse prefer something were there is personal advancment (upgrade mech/ship/weapons/whatever).
Planet side is DEFFINATLY like what I am looking for, however I prefer to have straight up battles where it is just "go fight kill". My gripe with PS is travel time realy.... (as instant action does squat), and a lack of honestly seeing that YOUR actions are doing something...
Oh, and to me PS is a mech game as I always just nab UNI Max :P

Well there is no such thing When i first started to play mmos thats one of the first things i looked for. Its hopeless some people are just to afraid of the shear power of the "MECH" and dont want anything to do with it *Joking*.
and if you find anything be sure to post it of the forums i would definetly want to know about it. BTW if you play Mechwarrior4: Merc My IGN is Akujin
and commenting on any non mech games like PS i think the only good ones are PS and GW and ya the instant action on PS could relly use a patch or somthing to actually give you instant action the only real way to get around is to use the moisqito

As I said, I don't realy care about Mech, I am more interested in the OTHER part.

Your description of this game makes it sound oddly like RF Online. It's mainly a MMORPG, but the PVP factor of the game is damn fun. However, leveling does get a bit tedious.
If you're willing to dedicate alot of hours to a game, and don't worry about neccesary leveling in a game, than I would probably go with RF Online. However, if I were you, I'd do some more research on the game. It's one of those love it or hate it games.

hehe, tried RF.
I am looking for a game with ZERO PvE. Only PvP, and that PvP needs to be twitch based (preferably with strategy also in there).
Basicly, what I want is:
1) Twitch based battles
2) Strategy involved in those battles (objectives/attack/deffend/etc)
3) a clearly stated area that is being fought over
4) An actual feeling of acomplishment (or loss) after a few battles (this is the problem with things like PS, you tend to be like "ok, so we pushed em outta 2 basses, yay?)
I know, I am probably not going to find this and should jsut go back to my HL/HL2 mods and be happy :P
Solaris (and as I said, I found 2 other games with similar ideas), were gems to me. They realy kept my attention and made me wana fight for my cause...
