Hi, i am FreezinIce, and this is my second thread ive made on the new boards.
Recently, ive become bored in my Computer Programming class, not finding anything to do, and having already mastered the course, ive recently been yearing for MS again, as i havent been able to play in 4 months due to home computer problems. I thought to myself "why not play MS at school?" My teach doesnt care, and nobody esle does either. All they do in the class is play runescape over proxies discovered after hundreds of pages of google serching. I have a dab taste and MS, and quite frankly, RS sucks. So heres what ive done so far...

STEP ONE: AQUIRE MS

1. Ok, so its time to download and install right? Wrong. I tried to go to mapleglobal, and not suprisingly, its blocked. OK, so what now? I go to the libary for a download, hoping to ship it to my Gmail account and send it home so i can sneak on my brothers laptop and burn it onto a cd. No good. Libary comps are SLOW! And im too poor to afford a flash drive so i can direct download w/o a cd burner (Libary comps dont have em) So what are my options now? Well, i ended up burning the ms install program to a cd via sneaking on my brothers laptop at 1:30 am a few nights back >_> Then i went w00t!! and almost set off the burgler alarm sneaking back up to bed :eye:

**STEP ONE COMPLETED!!! ^_^b**

STEP 2: INSTALL MS ON SCHOOL COMPUTER

First off, let me discribe my current situation for school computers:

Internet:I have access, but theyve blocked all sites retaining to gaming sites. As a matter of fact, they've basicly blocked everything not strictly pretaining to school (www.ijji.com, www.gamefaq.com, ect x100) They also have a dynamic way of blocking new sites that they dont know about. At the district office, they have teams of comp. programmers rate each student internet activity on a scale of one to 10) They then check the historys of the most active students (You cant delete the historys :() Then they block anything not school related. Its a real pain in the arse, cause they also block proxies, which i use to get to restricted websites. Theyve basicly cornered and blocked virtually ALL proxy sites. Im talking about digging throught 200 pages of a google serch on "proxys" and still finding them all blocked. The last one i discovered was blocked about 2 days ago. Dam :( (THANKS TO MY COMP PROGAMING TEACH FOR THE "INSIDE" INFO :))

General:Lets see...no admin privileges, no running exe programs (got that covered), no changing your desktop, and i think thats it. Oh yeah, if they find anything on your desktop thats not school related, they delete it =/ (I can handle this too)

Ok, now for the nitty gritty: I get on computer, put in cd, and try to run MSsetup.exe off the cd, but its blocked. Dam. So i try to bypass, but they tag me with that "cannot change name: read only" BS. Ive come too far to be denied now. So i copy and paste it into a folder on the C: drive (student desktops are on a shared server, so if i put it there, chances are theyll find it and delete :hmm: ) Then i try to run it. No go. But its ok, i know how to work these comps :p . First i rename it from MSsetup.exe to MSpaint.exe to bypass the rather primitive name blocker they use to stop anything other than "certified" programs to run. Then i run it. Intall blah blah blah...(once again i install on computers hard drive so i wont be detected.) Yay, installation complete!

**STEP TWO COMPLETED d^_^b**

STEP 3: RUN MS

Ok, its installed. now what? Well, i rename maplestory.exe to notepad.exe (MSpaint was getting kinda old :P) And then click on it. It downloads the updates for gameguard, then scrolls through the various steps (checking...authicating) then it slaps me with a gameguard ??? error ( i forgot the number) and tells me that other programs may be colliding with gameguard and to turn off my firewall. WAHHHHH

**STEP 3 FAILED (for now >_> )**

help?

You might want to ask TLM how that question, but from me, i'd just say d/l the game onto a flash drive, bring it to school, and copy it there. I've never tried that, so i don't know if it will work.

PS: what computer programming class are you taking? O_O 'i wants to take one too :(:('

It wouldn't feel like heaven playing it at school. I'd much rather play it at home, but that's just me. Hopefully you can play Maple story soon Freeze! I'd like to meet you in game sometime when I get back from break. :)

Maybe your teacher will get hooked on maplestory..

P.S. Don't let people stand behind your back... They just want to see your password and pin :/

wow, nobody has helped at all in this thread so far. What you might want to do is find out what program they use to block the sites, and then at home or soemwhere google for backdoors in the program. There migt be certain codes you can do or access the program through dos command prompt. List stuff that you might know, first off..

Operating system (as in win nt? or xp? do you have admin rights?)
internet connection
firewalled
does the computer have a usb 2.0 port
will it be able to patch

DO NOT send it over email, it would take so long, i don't even think it's possible. I would just download the install exe to disc and copy to the hd. If it can't even install don't bother doing anything else, because most likely your going to need admin rights to install 3rd party stuff. This would be nice if your teacher allows you to install it, but even he/she might not be able to change the settings for you. Update your post so i can help you out further.

Somebody managed to get MS on the computers at my High School a few years back, they also got Counter Strike on them. Now, the teachers didn't care about CS, but Maple, being online, they cared about. It was also against district regulations to install new software on the computers without approval and without it being educational. The person ended up expelled shortly afterwards, because of "threatening computer security" or something along those lines.

How the hell is Counter Strike educational??

Teachers actually ALLOWED their students to play that, they classified it as a "reward", or something like that, for completing assignments early. In other words, my school district was run by idiots!

Hey, Kyo, hey Death, read before you post.

Yes i read the post she said his teacher doesnt care and she already mastered the class however that still doesn't mean she can play MS in school. I hate to say it but School is for study only show some respect.

Eh its kinda basic stuff...we started w/ dr. sceme, and later in the year were gonna be doing java. No c++ for me :(

And yes its a windows, but im pretty sure it wont let me access the control panel >_>

Ah cool...um, lets see...try the "my computer" and get to the control panel there. Otherwise, try and get an IE page open. Then click on "tools" and "internet options". Turn off the firwall from there. (at least i think you can...I'm not sure)

Sorry if my info was misleading. I was just reading a book about computers and stuff, and i think i can across something. I'll try and find it later, since i have homework atm (curses) :(

Sorry if i couldn't help...=[, ill try and help you if i can ^^

FreezinIce

If what i said didn't work, try this:
1. Click the Windows 'start' button
2. Select 'Connect to' and 'show all connections'
3. Right click the connection the school runs on, and click the 'Properties' tag.
4. Select the 'Advanced tab'

Now you have the firewall setting, and you should be about to disable it.

PS: I'm only 13, so if it doesn't work, please don't yell at me ^^.I still have time to learn...i hope 0.0

dude, this is too risky considering the fact that people in my class hate the game, and windows covering me eerywhere, and the longest period i have in the library is like 30 minutees, the schools comps or fcking slow (sorry for cursing but thats how i feel) i do something wrong on word "error program not responding, or it just lags. so....i cant download it.

Step 2: Geez why not wait till you go home?

Step 3: Why download in the library and get caught by the Library owner person and why Let everyone else try maplestory when you leave it...Are you gunna delete it?O_o

EDIT: 300 POST!!!!

My way didn't work I take it.

You might want to ask TLM, or some other tech person at onRPG if you still need help.
