Ok i been browsing the boards but i see no mentions of one of the bigger mmorpgs out there eve online.

I thought i would bring it to peoples attention as it offers a different experience to most of mmorpgs out there. Sorry if there is apost about this already i couldnt see it.

Eve online is space based rpg and has been going for about 3 years. It started off with a few thousand players all on one server and now has hit the target of 30,000 players logged on to the same server at one time. You wont find split servers every body plays in the same world.

I have been playing eve for about 5 months now and really enjoying it its different you fly a spaceship instead of a human but you can buy new ships upgrade the guns, it has a player run economy so evrything is made by and sold by players except the newbie stuff which npcs make.

In eve you can be what you want to be it wont hold your hand for you and guide you it lets you choose your path. You can trade, manufacture, pirate, steal. and a whole host of things. You can form corporations which in turn can form alliences to hold parts of space and fight for control of regions. Its not the easiest game to get ya head around but there are alot of people in game who can help you or kill you if your not careful. PVP is non consentual so basically anyone can kill anyone else with out reason but if there in high security systems they get punished.

The skill system is not grind till you get to lvl 60. Its a real time skill system skills can take 1 hour or 49 days for the higher ones but they train while your offline. So if you have along skill you need to train and your going away for 2 weeks you could set it to train and hopefully it will be done when you get back. Theres no end game as such things keep progressing new expansions come out which are free and included with the monthly subscription these tend to add new ships new storylines and new ways to kill people :)

You may eb thinking what aboutt he players who have been playing for 3 years wont the own a newbie. Well it doesnt really work that way they may have been playing for 3 years and may have trained a lot of skills but it just means they can do more in game like maybe fly more types of ships or do trading as well as fighting. If you specilise in one area you will be come an asset to corporations and alliences. A guy whos flying a cruiser who is 3 years old say would of probably maxed the skills for a cruiser and fly it very effectivily. But you could then work towards specilising in cruisers and with in a month or 2 be on the same lvl as the 3 year old guy in that particular field.

Eve has recently exapnded in to china but because of censorship reasons and just the huge population they have there own seperate server to play on.

Eve has very mature playerbase ranges from 16 to 70 year olds playing and very freindly community.

Basically this post was just to open people up to a different type of mmorpg
