When I log in, pick my character, and get past the loading screen I see myself in town but as it's trying to load everything I get a pop up (squares and stuff, can't read it) and it kicks me out of the game. Is there any way to fix this or is it going to kick me out every time there's a bit of lag?

hmmm, if u use 56k that means u have lag,but if u have like 256k-and more,it wont be a lag problem,maybe u should re-install the game or download the game again

The maintenance team told me that they had banned IP outside Japan. Probably thats why you got kicked out.
