RAPPELZ
This is my rating on the BETA so far:
Graphics: The graphics are very nice for a free game. It has realistic water as well as a nice glow effect. The character textures are nice, but the landscape textures can be bland due to its repeated pattern on a large scale map.The trees and vegetation (not including the Asura map) are very nice. While fighting it has some cool effects while using skills. Some skills have the same or very similar presentation as another, but over all there is a nice variety of animations. This game can be hard on older computers due to a memory leak problem the game has. 8/10
Customization/Equipment: This is a big problem with game in my opinion. Although you do get to choose from multiple races you can find youself looking the same as many other characters. There isn't much eqipment at all, and the points where you change your equipment are very spread out. You will find yourself wearing the same thing for long periods of time. Weapons are the same. There are multiple ways to upgrade your epuipment and it is fairly easy to figure out. You can upgrade armors (for example) in two different ways. The first one is getting its level upgraded at the Blacksmith. The second is adding a "Cube" to upgrade its Enchantment Level. So the armor will be +4(Enchantment Level) Silver Armor (The skin or type of armor)Lv2(The Blacksmith upgrade level.)This can also be done with weapons. 5/10
Skills: There are different ways to play your character. The skills are set up like a tree. You must upgrade a certain skill to a certain point before using the next one, and there are multiple branches you can choose to upgrade. Compared to other free MMORPGs the game has a superb skill system, but compared to P2P or B2P the skills are a little on the short side. Your level does not determine if you can or cannot learn new skills. You gain Job Points as you fight and you can raise you Job Level to learn more skills. More skills are givin every 5 Job Levels. 8/10
Gameplay: This game is a huge grind. Almost every quest requires you to kill a certain amount of monsters and then report back for your reward. Having said that, there are an unlimited amount of quests. A certain person in each home town will give you a new set of monsters to kill after you have killed the last bunch. Sadly, all gives is money as a reward. Also you can complete other hometown quests to make leveling a little easier. The grind seems more difficult than many other MMORPGs. You face challenges and must strategize plans with your party on how to kill a certain monster. Overall the game is pure grinding hopefully to change after BETA. 6/10
Community/PvP/Hacking: You might be asking yourself why I tied these three sections together. Well, because people whine about being PKed, and the bots are PKed by players. There is also an anti-bot system in which they put "Auto Traps" in the game. They are considered monsters and when bots dont know the difference they attack them. People also whine and argue because some people decide not to read the rules and attack the Auto Trap and get sent to the "Abyss". They can't get out unless a a GM lets them out. There is a Non-PvP server if you do not like the fact that someone can run up you kill you at anytime, but if you do like living on the edge you may like the PvP server. There are parties and guilds just like in other MMORPGs. The guilds are very simple. There isn't really any advantage in having a guild except to have friends and such, and to get PKed by people who dont like your guild. Overall the community is just like any other free game, except people try to kill you if they get mad. 6/10
Learning Curve: There is a island you train on. I suggest you read what people have to tell you before asking and getting flamed by the community. If you do this you can get off to a great start. Trainee Island takes an hour or so to get off so I guess that can be the learning curve. 9/10
Thats all I can think of to say right now. I have high hopes for this game. I hope you all will try it out. Maybe you will see potential in it like I do.
