ok i am new to this game and i like it. im only lvl 9 right now but soon to be 10, i was just wondering whats the ups and downs of the classes

Not at all familiar with other classes so i wont even bother trying.
But for warriors

Pluses
Class that has the highest hp and defence
Get a mob skill in the first job
Do good damage later in the game
Easiest to lvl for the very first few levels

Minuses
very short range
Easily Killstealed
Become very hard to lvl mid game
Repetitive
Large damage range until second job mastery

Those are the basic points, but you also can't forget that each class has seperate jobs that affect how that character plays, a good list of class skills can be found on hidden street.

Also since you're lvl 9 already you may wanna start over if you're gonna be a magician as they can become so at lvl 8 and if your stats aren't focused specificaly in regards to whatever class you want to be you may also want to start over to make sure those points are allocated correctly.

For example if you aim to become a warrior it's best to start the game with 4 luck and Intelligence.

And finally if you want to find out more info about various classes there's a subforum here for maple guides and the majority of them are excellent.

well I'll cover what class's I have played

Warrior
pros: doesnt cost as much to play like lets say mage and assasin
takes the least dmg and has highest life therefore works as a good tank against higher lvl monsters

cons:well its been said but the range of damage is terrible at lvl 22 i wud hit 12-340 (thats extreemly bad)
the leveling gets really slow unless you choose to lvl power shot(w/e u call it i havent played warrior in a while)


magician
pros:fast leveling from lvl 15-25
kills monsters fast so barely gets hit
and ofcourse if you are a ice/lit wiz you have one of the best earlier level aoe spells

cons: plenty of these, you MUST be rich to use these without constantly stopping to recharge mana... mana pots get expensive
it is very hard to make any profit with this class until you reach lvl 33+
and finally, leveling from 1-8 is a huge pain in the ***...

Well, don't look at your EXP bar and train. If you're not a Magician, train at maple Island and don't go to Victoria Island until you're level 10 with 60%+.

Just put everything into STR. You should be lvl 10 in no time.

Also: Once you decided what class you want to be, make sure you read some guides (here, sleepywood.net, hidden-street.net, gamefaqs.com, ...). They will help you greatly to get the best out of each class.

Warriors:

Hard to train in Lower-Mid Lvs.
Mob skills in 1st job.
High Damage class
Scrolls and STR equip is really expensive.

Mages:

Easy to train in lower-mid Lvs
Make fair amount of money
Stable Damages
Mid Ranged
Become weaker in Higher Lvs (Rummor)
Cleric MUST have 4 partys
Int Scrolls r Expensive

Bowman:

Hard to train in Lower Lvs.
HIGH damage class.
Unstable Damages.(Fairly Stable Damages After 2nd Job)
Scrolls and weapons r the Cheapest in all class.
LONG RANGED
It will be a pain in the butt in near combat b4 3rd job
Sexy Cloth ~.<
Spent alot MP pots.

Thief-
Ranged thief:

Easy To Train in Lower-Mid-High Lvs (as long as u have good stars...)
Stable Damage
Very Sexy Cloth And Weapons
Long-Mid Ranged
Scrolls r Really Expensive
Super Expensive Stars
Must Need Fund!

Dagger Thief:

Hard to train in Lower LVs
Short Ranged
Cool Cloth and Weapons
Stable Damage Compare to other class
COOLEST 2nd JOB SKILL! SAVAGE BLOW! ^_^ (attack enemy 6x)
Expensive Scrolls + Weapons.
Waste Alot Pots....HP and MP.

Thats all i have to say about all jobs.
