It seems that the Chinese are the most fanatic MMORPG players. World of Warcraft reached 4 million users after the game was launched on the Chinese market, but Blizzard must have turned green with envy when finding out that the Korean game Yulgang, launched in China in July, has 9 million users!
Yulgang is a 2.5D MMORPG (and this is not some term invented by us; all the games before Quake are called that way) in which something happens…(we don’t know exactly what because we don’t know any Chinese or Korean).
The game’s site is available here ; the record for the most simultaneously connected players was 215,000.
The game has reached this figure so quickly because it is free of charge, while World of Warcraft, as well as other MMORPG games, requires the payment of a fee.
And if we come to think that there are 100 million Chinese users surfing the Internet, the record seems to be quite modest. Perhaps a 2D game would have done better.

The main reason why Yulgang was successful due was due to it's community role playing aspect (similar to Ragnarok online) as well as its team based strategy gameplay.
The fact that the game is free is also a big bonus for players who usually "can't" afford their games, but for those who could afford to pay, they pay to enhance their gameplay. In the end its usually a good deal for all players who want to play Yulgang. I'm not sure how they deal with ingame botting in this game, but it seems to me that it is difficult to bot due to the team play required in order to kill a monster.
Anyways, netgame should actually get some players now that they are going to release Yulgang.
However, I wouldn't neccesarily say that Yulgang has been able to beat WoW, the fact that WoW has every single player paying in order to play is a huge success(with the number of players they have + the money they earn for each player). I really doubt that all 9 million from of those players from yulgang are actually paying for cash items, but they get enough from players who do purcahse items (allowing them to have enough income to support their game and keep the servers up). WoW on the other hand earns a crapload of money.

Also, it seems to be those 9 million are more like registered users rather than just active players. I am not a fan of WoW but WoW is somehow dominating (for me WoW is the same old same old with Blizzard tagged on it. Starcraft and Diablo are a lot better :) ).

I didn't personally like WoW at all. Way to bandwagon for me >_>
Plus, WoW doesn't have anyone really revolutionary about. The revolutionary things are the stuff that really get me into games. The only real reason that WoW is so popular is because its got the big Blizzard name onto it and that it's warcraft.
And man, 9 million. Thats alot =O
Come out NOW Yulgang! T_T

I rather see how yulgang is like before I make a decision on whats better lol, half the players who say yulgang is better haven't even played the game, let alone having to try out WoW either. I'm tired of WoW, but I can't say it was a horrible game (Atleast Blizzard spent a lot of time actually putting some thought into their game unlike most MMORPG's).
