Hey everyone. Im fairly new to the forums, and I am also starting Maple Story!
Currently downloading the client from www.mapleglobal.com - albeit very slowly :D (Anyone know a better place to get it? Downloading at only 20kbps atm but I can cap at 1500kbps)
Anyone got some tips for a newbie? xD
I am from United Kingdom so what would be the best server to play on etc? And what is a Newbie friendly class?
Thanks for reading!

Well first off welcome to Maple fellow Uk'er here
As for class, just pick whatever you want to be, all the classes are relatively easy to pick up so it's better just to go with one you think you'll enjoy.
Best server, there isn't really a "Uk" server unofficial or otherwise so it really depends what you're looking for. Scania and Bera for example are packed Windia and Broa are relatively quiet and from what i've read the newer server Khaini has a lot of hackers and alts, but that's just what i've read around.
For general tips, well the only real advice i could give is that when you've decided your class to make sure you get the right starting stats for your character and to do some reading up on the best skills to get once you make your first job advancement. The rest is pretty much common sense or easy to pick up.
If you come to windia and need a buddy feel free to add me (Andoh) Otherwise welcome again, hope you enjoy your stay in maple.

Hello and welcome! your from united kingdom? me too :O well i if you wanna have a server with alot of people its scania if you want to jus train and stuff pick khaini the rest are kinda in the middle, umm i think you should start off with a warrior because there the easiest class to start with then after a class of your choice :D Hmm well i dont think there is a newbie friendly class becaise it kinda depends on the persons whos playing, but i guess wizards are the class thats not liked due to alot of them Ksing -.-'
Join Scania! So we can be friends! United Kingdom!!!! Wewt! :D
IGN: Dantej5 ( i think my buddy list is full but if you join scania ill make room for you ^^)

Thanks, Ill do some reading up on some classed now while I wait for the download to finish :)
I guess I'd rather be on one of the new quieter servers so I'll probably start on Windia xD
Quick question incase anyone knows - Im on a widescreen monitor, does maple story support such resolutions? Well - aslong as it supports windowed mode I can avoid any stretching!
Also, Is my Sig too big or anything? I don't want to get into trouble - ill try look through the Forum rules after I post this.

well i if you wanna have a server with alot of people its scania
Hmm I was thinkin Windia because I usually prefer the newer servers on Mmorpgs, less Uber people etc etc :P And the lag is usually not as bad etc.

i concur, winda looks like a good place for you. i was on bera (the second busyest) before, and i encounteded soo much lag its not even funny >_< however now that i am on a quieter server (khaini) there are more training spots, as well as less lag.
Cheers, and enjoy your stay,
Dan

Well I made my character on Windia atm hehe.
But I am having some problems, the game plays in 800x600. Thats ok but i use a Widescreen monitor (16:10) so its playing fullscreen and stretching the image horizontally :(
Is there anyway I can play Windowed mode so its smaller but atleast not being stretched :(

Well welcome to Windia, sadly the only way to play in windowed mode is to download certain programs that aren't really allowed and even then i wouldn;t know where to get them.
I don;t know much about widescreen monitors having never owned one, but perhaps it would be possible to change the monitors display options so it uses a normal monitors resoultion?

I was trying that, but my monitor just lets be change the position of the image on screen, and not the Size of it (like vertical and horizontal)
Ive compared what my game looks like to some screenshots, and tbh its not THAT bad but... the characters just seem a bit more..wide :P More Chibi like tbh
Ill get used to it I guess. If i were to try use windowed mode it wud be small i guess :(
Edit
Oh and Andou ? Is that Edward from Full Metal Alchemist or Wrath (ur avatar) or something? it looks familiar but ...
