Anyways, as for Free FPS, ET if you like fast pace shoots is the way to go.

TCE is more like a free version of counter-strike. But is a mod of ET so you'll need ET and its latest patch before getting TCE.

Warrock is one of the closes experiences to BF2 for free as you can get. Even though I own BF2 I still have friends who play Warrock.

overall: most free MMOFPS are time killers, some more addicting then other, but most lose there feel do to lack of graphical updates and technological advances( only exception I know is Enemy Territory and its HUGE community).

America's Army and FEAR Combat are the two best free FPS's there are, period. Both are extremely high quality and well made and fun as hell.

That's an opinion, not the truth. I hated FEAR and America's Army is okay.

While it is my opinion, AA and FEAR are both retail, high quality games that shit on most of the other freely available games everyone loves here. Seriously, you can't even compare a game like FEAR to say, oh I don't know, Trickster? lol

If you have Half-life 1 and a Steam account, get Natural Selection. I find it pretty fun, especially on the alien side. Nothing like running around as a dog-sized critter with a mouth full of angry teeth biting marines in the butt to make me smile, heheh.

Not quite they put high reqs but i had ones that were lower than it and it ran quite smooth

Prefer NS over Tremulous. Graphics may not be as good but it's still fun as hell. Tremulous, there was just 'something' that was wrong, although I can't quite touch it. Although a start is the fact that starting aliens can only 'headbutt' people to death...*shrugs* Oh well, it all really comes down to preference really.

Counter Strike 1.6 or Counter Strike: Source they can be free if you get them by illegal means and if you want to know how google it.

FEAR Combat and America's Army are definately at the top for quality free FPS. Both games are well polished, the graphics are great, and you can lower the settings on a lesser system.

As for FEAR, it is very fast paced, in your face action. Its melee combat is a unique feature, you can holster your weapon and run around faster, and just punch people in the face. If you're good, it's probably more effective than weapons, but some of the better players in the game know how to move properly, and are harder to melee (myself included :P). It has a some unique weapons. The penetrator, which can nail people to walls, and power weapons, which are quite annoying (I much dislike them, and try to stick to servers with them disabled). There are however a lot of people who play FEAR Combat. The downside to this game is that being a newer, high graphic game, it attracts a lot of newbies who have never played FPS before. If you're experienced in FPS games, expect to place first in most servers, even with your first time playing it.

AA is a more slow paced, tactical game, that is strongly realism based. If you ever wanted to know what being in the army is really like, this game was made to simulate that as best as possible (sorry people, but you can't respawn in real life :(). I would recommend this game to anyone who hasn't tried it yet. Many enjoy it, it had a fairly large community last I played it, but that was a long time ago. I enjoyed it myself. One large downside to this game is that if you like to use certain weapons, you can't always get it. Weapon sets are assigned to different squad positions, or different ranks, which you can choose before spawning. However, the less people in a server, certain positions become unavailable and if other people choose that position, you end up having to share, and can go several rounds being unallowed to use the weapon of your choice. The hardest position to get is often the sniper, which is often in the hands of noobs that can't use it right, and end up putting your team at a huge disadvantage.

Ultimately, between these two, you have a fast paced and a slow paced game, which will serve one need or another. I'm currently stuck on FEAR Combat, it fits my preferences very well, so I love it.

Additionally, if you would like a game that's b2p then f2p, you should consider investing in Joint Ops. It's a little older, but it's a game with low system requirements, great graphics, and is kind of like a polished version of BF2. Servers are upward to 120 players, and it's extremely tactical. Weapons actually account for muzzle velocity, as well as gravity. meaning that if you are sniping from 1 kilometre away, and the muzzle velocity of your rifle is 950 (which is the approximate muzzle velocity of the strongest sniper rifle), you have to adjust the scope distance for 1km away, and aim your shot with a 1 second delay in mind. Probably one of the most polished games I've seen.

Its so hard for me to find a ET game thats just normal pure ET and no gay unbalanced mod. Why the hell do clans run those stupid things.

tce would have to be the most balanced mod of enemy territory
but it's nothing like the normal enemy territory
its more up to date weaponry and scenery and sort of like counterstrike but yet still a whole lot different...its easy to learn also well it was for me..some people just plain suck

AA if You like Realistic Shooters , I Personally Love it :P
FEAR if You Like FastPaced Shooting , It Was okay.
ET If You Like Pumping A Whole Clip Of ammo Into Someone , Didn't Play It To Long But it was good.

America's Army is probably the best free FPS in my opinion. My PC can't run it, but back in the day (when I actually had a pretty good computer) it was the best FPS I have played.

It's probably because I hate those fast paced, run n' gun, shoot anything that moves type games. I have yet to even see a retail game that's as good as AA (as far as multiplayer tactical FPS's are concerned).

I would like to recomend that the admins make it against rules to post a "what is the best game" thread, for there is no such thing. <= we've got too many of these threads already.

There are many great games, and many terrible ones, if not, people, please rephrase your question to "What would you recomend in this area" questions.

Everytime I open one of these threads, I see a flame war about to happen, because it creates an appearance of biased against other great games.

For me, I usually stick with BF:2 And CS:S

BF:2, becuase it's good for large scale battles n such, complete with giant maps and cool vehicles

And CS:S, becuase it has alot of face paced action... plus you can play a bunch of cool mods such as Gun Game or Zombie Mod (I personnaly perfer Zombie mod, an excellent time killer)
