Um...Ludibruim...where to start....
Bascially just about all the monsters here are weak to fire.
Awesome you're thinking right? Wrong! (sorta)
Although this is a great thing, on the other hand its sucks.
Five Words: TOUCH DAMAGE and POT COSTS
So what does that mean?
Well for one, Magic Guard is gonna be your new best friend.
Even though we have great skills like Slow, Seal (and knockback)
to keep the touch damage low...its still going to happen.
Teleporting, "surprise" spawns...etc.
No Magic Guard=instant death.
With Magic Guard=ability to level and pot costs.

Secondly...pot costs.
Since we have already accepted the fact Magic Guard is going to be that
annoying little brother/sister who always follow you around, it brings up another "issue"...which is pot costs.
First and foremost,
POT COSTS ARE NOT A ISSUE TILL LEVEL100.
Later on however it will rear its ugly head. Why?
Dual Ghost Pirates.
These monster are the saviours for all F/P Mages out there.
Flat out excellent drops (both equip and meso wise) and the
set-up and spawn rate of this map is just as awesome.
The only problem with these monsters....horrible exp after lvl105ish.
If you want to level faster, you will have to leave here and move onto deadlier monsters.
Grims, Sharks, Squids for example.
Its a shame that these monsters give great exp but are coupled with
possibly the worst drops and damaging attacks ever I feel.
However, Poison Mist makes all these maps child play so...

There are alot more factors involved to the pot costs of a leveling F/P Mage
I honestly admit. Luck, the ability to super scroll items, and when you get
Mist are the main three.

I didn't think they were unpopular...everyone thats super high levels are clerics, simply because that was what was cool when beta ended. :)

I love firemages. I also agree that they're very unpopular. Recently, Ice mages been filling up the servers because of there multi- attacks. Personally Fire mages are the best of all 3. Ive tried all 3 before, All in there high 4xO_o

Look my friend listen its true that most monsters are weak to fire:D , but Ice freezes which is helpfull and can pwn if used right:p . Okay I shouldn't be talking about lightning cause i just pwns (:p Come on man, it goes through enimies stuns them shocks them and shatters them into darkness and kills then; figure of speech:D ) Now clerics are also better cause more people wants them cause they can heal and buff:D :) !111 They also use some holy attacks and they can summon doors to closer towns, buff and change 6 non-boss monsters into snails. SO WHAT ELSE IS THERE TO SAY!!!!!O_o

IF YOU DON"T UNDERSTAND THEN HERE IS A BREAKDOWN TO THE TOP 3 MAGES.

1) ICE/LIGHTNING MAGE AND (LV 80+ PRIEST):eye:
2) FIRE/POISON MAGE:p
3). PRIEST (THAT ARE LOWER THAN LV 80) AND CLERICS!!O_o

I agree that they're pretty unpopular out of the three. If I ever started a mage, I'd choose f/p. I love rare classes such as a crossbowman.

This is where we see people's ignorance. Poison is 10 time better than lit. Poison a whole map and finish monster with 1 mc. A fire mage with max poison can ks anyone out of any maps.

They may do the most damage but it's hard to level...Not really a party or multi killing mage.....So I thinks that's why it's uncommon....

Its uncommon because fire mage are tacticians. They poison the map and come finishing everything after. This is why they are the best, you dont have to enter a mob and spam lit or heal like ice and clerics. Training them takes brain, and most players dont have one :S

Fire and Ice owns in 4th job. Mages are making a comeback with their AOE spells and summons.

are better for ice not by alot but a good difference

No AoE till 3th job and poison balls doesn't sound exciting compared to ice/lightning. That's probably what everyone thinks.

I think being a fire mage makes you cooler than the other mages = ]

But anyway, they only seem unpopular, because they train at places that are only effective for fire mages to train, therefore, unless you ARE a firemage, you would not be training there they all are.:)

1.) priest
2.) ice mage
3.) fire mage
