I download the free MP Fear ive installed it and everything but when it comes up i can here sound but see nothing. I was wondering if anyone else had this and fixed it and could help me with it.

kimoto, how on earth is that BS? you ever realised that if you want to make a good game, you need good hardware to run it? we call it, 'the principle of logics'. FEAR looks very nice, and in order to play it on high settings, you need the right material. And fear doesn't require a 256mb videocard to play it well, it requires a GOOD videocard (that can be a geforce 7600 with 128 mb or something). So unless you want all games to look like Tombraider '99, go buy a better system and stop complaining, because it isn't looking any better for you then. Next generation games won't be less requiring ...

I probably need a new video card i have an intel right now. I wouldnt know what one to get to play all games or how to put it in my computer lol.

Face it; if you want the better eyecandy, you have to cough up some cash. And a 128MB graphics card is not that expensive. Even 256MB isn't that much.

And, for the O.P: My brother had the same thing, and the only solution we came up with was upping his graphics card. You could go with a cheaper 6600GT which are under $100, and you'll run F.E.A.R. just fine, unless your processor is ancient.

gloomba38 is right, kimoto, you're a moron, it's the year 2006 already, should you have forgotten, as how you would say it 'ITS CALLED REALITY!!!' ... *cough* creep ...*cough*.... Again, gloomba states that a geforce 6600GT runs fear just fines, and he's right, i have a geforce 6800GT for about 120 euros (makes about 140 USD, probably costs even less atm) and it runs FEAR just nice on high settings, as well for other games such as NWN 2 (not all on high, some settings not), Titan Quest. And besides, 128 or 256 mb videocards are todays standard ...

well then don't call it bullshit that FEAR doesn't have min. requirements that go as low as what you have. if you're not willing to shell out a few bucks - a 128mb fx card is pretty damn cheap (~$30) - then don't expect game companies to limit their games to people who don't want to upgrade their computers from hardware 10+ years old.

if you're that strapped for cash that you can't even spend $30, get a job or if you're too young to work learn to manage your allowance/whatever-money-you-get/savings better.

And for FEAR, the graphics are just part of the atmosphere, i think that FEAR would be another generic first person shooter if it didn't have those great graphics. And the reason why World of Warcraft has lowerend graphics, check the diffirence... besides, it's virtually impossible to start making an MMORPG with the graphics of say Oblivion, that's impossible for the server to handle and likely for the players too, at least, not now. Likely in the future that will be possible. And i would juste HATE the fact that all games being released in 2006 would have lower end graphics, such as most blizzard games (besides, Blizzard equalls characters with cartoony looks and bloody big feet). A good example of a game that will likely sell good for it's graphics and gameplay will be Silverfall.
