Does anybody here still play this or have you all moved on to 2/2142?

Yeah it probobly is better. But crappy video card and no money keeps me from playing it :P. If I do upgrade my computer this christmas (doubt it since I want alot of 360 games) I'm gonna make sure it will play 2142 and just skip 2.

Ironically, I just reinstalled my old copies of 1942 to enjoy a little nastalgia. (especially since the last time I played it, I didn't have my high speed Internet.)

Yep i still play 1942 its mah favorite i love open ended maps of barring wasteland some of the mods are still the best to date in gaming history

I actually prefer 2 over 2142. (own and play both.)
I'm just not really a huge fan of the futuristic warfare; I like the modern-ness of 2.

And I never played 1942, as I don't care for WW1-2/Vietnam/whatever war games.

Well, one thing is clear when going back to 1942; the game is now more agrivating than ever because I'm used to a lot of the advantages I got out of 2 and 2142.

And the first thing you notice is the engine differences. You remember how bad the graphics are untill you pop in the old game.
