Not sure if this works or not but i found a website that allows you to run elder scrolls oblivion on weaker hardware.
http://www.oldblivion.com/
Any feedback on how it works can be helpful

Techniquely this is in wrong section... (being a subdivision of free games and all) but no were to put it cept here... Someone needs to talk to gabe about adding a whole single player rpg section then having a sub of free but eh...
On topic... Yeah I heard about this about.... before oblivion came out... But I don't care cuz I got mine for 360... ^_^

i ran oldoblivion a long time ago because i have a amd 2.4gig, 512ram and a 6800GT, thought it wouldn't be able to handle it .. oldblivion idd makes it run faster but it disables many atmospheric features, being the pixel shader 3.0 effects, certain lightning, textures and soforth. Indoor it still looks ok with oldblivion, but outdoor looks really ugly, trust me. I decided to play the normal game, it looked better and în general, played just as good, so i would advise to only play with oldblivion is you have a gfx card lower than a 6600 and a cpu lower than 2.0 gig, otherwise it's not worth losing the eye candy :)

I played Oblivion with this mod on a GeForce 3 Ti200, 384Mb RAM, and a AMD Athlon 1800+.XO It played pretty smooth and it was decent looking with this mod. Recommended for anyone who couldn't play the game normally. Make sure you check the supported cards to see if you can play it.

I could play the game normally but with the lamest gfx that look incomplete so I prefered this mod since as bad as it looks, its more completed.

I wish there were some way to try the game with the mod. I would like to see how it runs on my laptop, but I don't want to have to buy it to see.
Is there any way to test how it'll run with the mod for free (excuding piracy)?

I dunno, maybe if you lived in the city you COULD go to the library and check because our library has some assorted new computer games every month or so coming in. Or you can ask a friend.
