If I had one, I'd just use it for games, computers are used for computers, not consoles. And if you don't want to sit around your desk, hook your PC up to your TV. That's how I see it. :D

Well with the camera zoomed up to it that close, yeah I guess.

OMG... Finally someone agrees with me. We went in 2 school today with everyone all "PS3 is only so expensive cause it's a little computer! It's AWESOME!". If you want a PS3 for your PS3, then just run your monitor through your TV! You can get a PC better than a PS3 for 600 bucks. Lol not trying to start any flamewars though. And I must admit, that's pretty nice. Homebrew will be fun too, but you can always just run emulators on your PC.

Let me make this VERY CLEAR. The ONLY OS's that can be put on there legally is a *nix based OS(and other open source OS's), so basicly Unix, Linux, ect. The only way that windows will ever be put on it is by illegally reconfiguring the OS, which if it was really that easy, I would expect windows CE to be modded to be put on the iPod already.



Windows XP WILL NOT run on the PS3 legally, and no where in the near future.
And if somehow they did manage to get it to work on the PS3, it would be pointless. The PS3 has 7 cores. XP home can only take up to 2 cores, and Pro up to 4. No more then that.
So basicly, the OS itself will be unable to access the full power, even if you somehow got it correctly set-up on the PS3.

The only OS's that you can install on it are open-source OS's, meaning Unix, Linux, BSD, ect.

i own the game -.- i beat it already and was playin multiplayer for about 2 hours a day.
i was saying it in present tense, not as if i havnt played it yet.

and fabian, developers were talking on the ps3 forum about that, and windows can be used within all the cores at the same time, therefor using all its processing power. Althought we do not know when it will be ported.

It won't. Windows has a cap limit on the cores.
For windows to work on the PS3 you would have to get access to the kernal and modify it. The windows kernal is in complete lock-down.

Last time someone acquired access to the kernal, they posted what they got(about 50-100 lines of code) on their personal site. With-in 12 hours of it being put up, he got a phone call from Microsoft that if he didn't take the code down immediately he would be sued.
And this was a small site of his that got about 20-30 hits a day.



Now, it may be possible to take win2k3 and have that use all cores, for that has support for up to 8 cores. But thats 2k3, and in no way a desktop OS, and unless you really know what you're doing, you don't want to touch it.
