it's the first release, and the shop channel has either not been released, or has just come out, so the glitches will be ironed out.

Chill out man, it's the first shipment, they'll always have bugs. Just thank god it's not as bad as the PS3s 'burn-out bug', or it's '10% chance of setting your house on fire bug'. Guarantee that it will be fixed by Christmas. :)

well since the wii is connected to the internet 24/7, do you think that there will be updates for the system. somewhat like video card drivers.

Like I said, all systems have their bugs on first week launches.

Lol the ps3 incidents were cleared up and claimed false like 2 days ago.
there has not been one report of system over heating/burning out yet which is a miracle.
freezing is a different story, but every system has in its first release xD.
ex: Xbox 360, Ps2, Ps3, Wii, Ds

I remember when Xboxes had to be sent for repair when some parts blew up? Or something like that? =/

My favorite was when Dell computers lit on fire (laptops) due to a sony battery glitch (over-heating) I actually saw clips on the news, it was kinda funny, two were smoking and one was on fire.
I was laughing my ass off.
Sony = untrustable :)

If I remember correctly, they were lithium polymer batteries, so explosions and flames are no big suprise. Li-poly batteries have a rep. of doing some pretty nasty stuff when they're roughed up.

WiiConnect 24 Update Breaking Systems?
Be careful what you wish for, you just might get a broken Wii.
by Micah Seff
November 20, 2006 - We have received word from numerous sources that running the initial WiiConnect 24 update on the Wii has had a tendency to cause a recurring error code. Several error codes have been reported so far, but the most prevalent of them are 110213 and 32002. We contacted Nintendo about this issue, and they filled us in on what you should do if you find yourself in this predicament.
Currently, Nintendo has two options in place to resolve the problem. If you do not have any data saved to your system that is important to keep, then you can contact Nintendo customer service and they will ship a new console to you in 3-4 business days. However, if you do have important data saved to your system, then things get a little trickier. Data like game saves and Miis are not disastrous to lose, but Virtual Console data is. While Virtual Console games are re-downloadable should you delete them, the data saved on your console regarding which games you have downloaded is tied to your system. In this situation, option #2 is the way to go.
Option #2 requires that Nintendo send you a shipping label which should take 4-10 business days. Once you receive the shipping label, you can use it to send the console to Nintendo for repairs, after which they will send it back to you. Sadly, this process takes 8-12 business days, meaning that if you choose option #2, you will be Wii-less for a good long while.
Nintendo could not comment on how widespread this problem is, but did say that they are currently looking into fixes that can be done without Nintendo replacing or repairing the console itself. If you find yourself receiving either of these error codes, or any others, please visit Nintendo's customer service website.

At least it's not blowing up like the Xbox 360's were. Those videos you saw were the Beta versions, the Shop channel was fixed and everything. NOTE: If you dont take care of your games, don't get any Next gen game...THEY WILL BREAK.

As long as Nintendo replaces the defective Wiis, I dont really care about the problems.

Okay I am going to say a wierd analogy so be prepared.
The Wii is like your first batch of cookies that you have ever made. At first nobody will buy your cookie because they taste like crap but soon you become good at it and they taste less like crap but still have some crap in it because they do and there is nothing you can do about that so screw it... :)

I see why you're not a famous philosopher.
Anyway, from what I've seen the biggest Wii problem right now is breaking things in real life with the wii-mote. The wrist strap snaps and makes the wii-mote fly across the room.
