wait, by that you mean your "sixth sense" or the really wild stuff, like being able to make thing explode with eye contact or whatever. because I agree with sixth sense, and I partially agree with telekinesis.

My debate on the matter:

So, we are the most advanced species on the face of the earth. Scientifically prove, as a matter of fact. according to sci-fi, we will all eventually evolve into aliens who move things with willpower. At the cost of strength of limb and our human features. We, in case you hadn't noticed, have shrunk over the last few million years, we started out small, and with that spark that gave us the capacity to learn, and then grew big and lumbering, and now we are shrinking, choosing finesse and intelligence over brawn (in most cases.) Then we suddenly have this "sixth sense," a feeling that we know about things right before they happen, know what's going on when we have our backs turned, a feeling of invasion when someone gets too close. this is a defense mechanism that is evolving. We use all of our other senses, as well as our superior brainpower, to calculate what's going on before realizing we did so. watch a scary movie and test it out with your paranoia. because you believe that there is a ghost somewhere, after watching the movie (sub-consciously you do, because that's why you're scared.) then your senses pick up every detail looking for a fact to verify your suspicions, with a combo of adrenalin and wits. This, I believe is an advancing ability, which may eventually become a truer "sixth sense" as we see in movies.

Yeah, instinct? You're thinking something's gonna happen from what's happening, its not really seeing into the future.

I still don't see how intelligence plays a part in it, i mean, the future's not something you can infer from being smart, seeing into the future is like... something paranormal stuff. =]

I'm talking about the signs... stuff like, for instance, someone is about to tip over a coffee cup on your lap, and it's on a bus. you notice (in a split second) that the bus has begun going over a bump, that the person next to you is walking down the aisle with a sloshing cup of java, and that he or she has a shocked look on their face, as they lose their footing. all of these things are realised so fast, that it seems you knew it the moment before it happened, and move in time to not get spilled upon. there are more supernatural forms I believe in as well, but I'm waiting for that to be brought up.

I still think thats inference, and that feeling you think it's happened before, its common. Your brain is probably confused and its buffer is overloaded lol... The human brain is pretty powerful, i'm sure we could come up with a scenario for the next 5 seconds in a slit second.

I believe it 100%, because I've experience it first hand. It was a long time ago, but I still remember it. It was the night before my first day of 2nd grade. I dreamed about the classroom, then I go in the next day. Everyone sits in the EXACT same place and is wearing the EXACT same thing. Same stuff on the walls and everything.

I experience extreme de ja vu, and know what someone's about to say sometimes. there's my paranormal. don't believe me? I wouldn't believe me either. if I didn't experience it so often... it happened a few years back, I started having weird dreams where I'd feel happy... for no reason. and then suddenly I'd recall exact events from dreams. i felt like a tiny mind inside something huge...

How come only some people have "esp" and yet not everyone has it.

RidleyLoki

I think it's the ability to reconize something that's not there without using your other senses. Like someone is behind you and you have your head phones all the way up so that you can't hear, and you feel a presence, and you turn around and someone's actually there, but you didn't hear, smell, taste, feel, or see him. I think that's happened to me alot before. And it's quite annoying.

zaku
11-21-2006, 04:16 PM
yeah same with the tool hammer. they tell u to think of a color and a tool, and whenever someone thinks of "tool" they first think of hammer. same with "color" and "red"

ESP is based on experience in paranormal or not normal experiences. If you are one agent for the CIA and get shot at everyday you develop a habit on knowing whats wrong and whats right. Its when your brain gains experience and starts to detect trouble. Its not necessarily instinct on the matter. There is no need for a high IQ all you need to be is a SURVIVOR.

I think I remember watching something on the Science Channel or someplace saying that we either only use 12% of our brain or theres 12% unused, so who knows what we could do if we could use 100% of our brains

I personally think these deja vus and hunches are a split second awakening of our unused part of our brain that either: Alerts us of danger or maybe gives us a small glimpse into the future

Well I was thinking that as humans evolve, we could use more and more of our brain. Just a thought. >_>

I mean...look at cavemen. They used like what...1% of their brain? :p

Were you there? No. Cavemen were able to survive through the ice age by controlling fire. Cavemen were probably just as smart as us, they just didn't have the same technology.
