I used to be into paintball a while back but then all of my friends stoped playing and got jobs, now my brother has started playing every week and has been borowing my friends guns and needs his own but he dosn't know what to get.
so if anyone knows a good a good paintball site/ forums then please share because he has no idea what to get, or if you know a good gun for the price range of 100-200.
also we don't need a bundle with the gun because we already have the pods, hopper, cod and mask.

Played paintball once. IMO airsoft is better.
1)More realism. And i know paintball guns dont look like real guns
2)A airsoft team looks like a team of seals, USMC's, ect. A team of paintballers look really wierd.
3)Airsoft have bigger games. Check this one out. http://youtube.com/watch?v=Fyd_h5nfXDA
4)If you want to get a unmatched paintball gun in most matchs it can cost 500-600 dollars. You can get a pretty good tokyo marui for half that.
5)Airsoft is bigger here in oregon. Its easier to get a team together and get in the league.
But you might try amazon.com and http://www.xtremez.com/

paintball on the other hand weigh as much as a casual gun, and takes a log more skill, I use to be in a PsP team befor I broke my leg... then i couldnt go to Colarado last year and i was force to leave the team :( any ways, paintball and airsoft are not compairable for one if i gave a guy that plays airsoft a real gun... he could shoot just alitte bit better... if a paintballer was giving a gun, he can shoot alot better... but still the handle on a real gun isnt compairable to eather of them so... yeah, i have my Angel in my room :), its my prized possesion :)

Think before you speak. My guns weight just as much as the real-steel versions. In fact, I know a guy with a Classic Army M249 that weighs over 30 pounds. Wanna talk about a girl sport? You run around in bright neon jumpsuits shooting multi-colored paint at each other. Yeah, you're right, military simulation is so weak, huh? Also, explain to me how either airsoft or paintball would teach you anything about firing off a real gun. The most you can get from airsoft is how to hold a gun properly, otherwise, in both sports you're simply lobbing projectiles at one another. Don't talk about skill, either. Try getting in a postion unseen with a sniper to take one shot, then move out as quietly as possible to another location where you can repeat the process. Meanwhile, I'll run behind an inflatable yellow wall and stick only my gun out while rapidly slamming the trigger and cursing like an angry 12-year-old. Don't even get me started on realism. Classic airsoft guns like old sun project M16s and the new Escort/Inokatsu gas M60 offer so much more than an AEG or a paintball gun ever can.
[/fanaticism]
Oh, and by the way, they're called BBs, not "bee bees."

There both the same consept, but paintball is for thouse who can take pain... because if you wear a hoody and a mask to airsoft you wont be in much pain... you wear the same thing paintballing... you will get bunkerd and you will feel like dieing...
Just saying Airsoft was intended for kids and people who cant take much pain... i play it sometimes but its not a sport like paintball is

Sorry, but most of us don't play for pain, we play for fun. Hell, if a paintball actually hurts you then you shouldn't even be playing. Of course playing with WalMart springers doesn't hurt, but a hit from an upgraded rifle can hurt just as much as a hit from a paintball. As for aim, it's obvious you've never fired off a real gun before. A little tip - if you ever do, don't revert to paintball mode and aim 5 or 10 feet above your target.

I doubt that can even hit 400 with .12g BBs. It'll get between 250-280 with a .2 probably, unless of course you plan on upgrading it. Throw in a stronger spring, like an M120, and then you'd be at 400, but that requires a little bit of muscle to pull back the bolt. Sites like that like to use paintball chronos instead of light chronos, that way they can lie about how hot their products are shooting. Also, stay away from the Super 9, they're notoriously dodgy and unreliable, and have a tendency towards breaking very easily.

airsplat says it shoots 410, all i know is that it is accurate as hell and can shoot far and fast because my friend shot a stof sign from about 50 yards away without any problem, the only thing is i don't know if it is that durable since it is only about 6 lbs.

And this is where I call bullshit. I've seen Tanaka rifles converted to CO2 and with 6.01 tightbores that couldn't hit something accurately 150 feet away in good weather, and that's firing over 550 with a .2g BB. There's no way a shitter 9 can even do half of that, dude. I'm trying to save you money here, avoid the Super 9. If you're dead set on a cheap spring sniper, which I normally wouldn't recommend at all, then look into the new Matrix Type 96. It's modeled after the Maruzen Type 96, which is a great choice if you have the money.

Can I just say, though, that for the same price you can buy an A&K S-System, which unlike other guns in it's price-range, is actually comparable to a Marui in performance. That'd be your best choice, honestly. It'd even outrange a stock spring rifle.
EDIT*** Don't pay attention the the statistics for that gun on Evike, it doesn't actually perform like they say it does. It'd be the same as the Super 9, but the build quality is better.

Well i dont get much money so i only have a UTG 870SA. Ive played with much more than that though, as i know a guy who owns a airsoft shop, and have often able to use most of what they have in the store. Im gonna need to get a job before i get anything better than that, which will be another year...

If you think that youve just used crappy guns. Most UTG's, CA's, TM's, and even some of the newer CYMA's, and Double eagles (not that id use CYMA and Double eagle guns) are now heavier than most. My UTG weighs as much as the real thing.
i think i have just convinced my brother to get an airsoft gun....he said he might go with this gun because his friend has it and it shoots 400 fps rifle.
I wouldnt buy anything over 350fps. Heres why
1)In small tournaments the average play field is a mere acre. In a acre FPS doesnt matter much.
2)350 is the usual limit in tournaments. And the ones that you REALLY want to be in wont have any exceptions for you
3)350 fps is all you need. You'll still have a good effective range, as long as your barral doesnt suck
Some tips in looking for a gun is
if its a AEG make sure its got at least a metal gearbox
Dont go for cheap *** guns. You get what you pay for. A $5 uzi may fire for a week well but it wont last long.
If your planning on using it for a long time do get at least 300fps so in a couple years when your into it you can play in big matchs (like the videos on youtube)

Your kidding me? Those little bb's don’t go 400 fps... that would be like going 1 and 1/3 of a football field a second... That’s Stupid... I can See how it may count that in a Chronograph or whatever they call it because that goes by something a lot less than fps... but fps is fast... I doubt it goes 400 feet in 1 second... that’s just stupid talk, I would doubt it even go 300, or 200... that...
A real bullet (had to calculate this because it was in meters per sec, and stating a meter is roughly 3 feet (which its more than 3 feet)) is around
540 - 3660
There is no way in hell there going to make a air soft gun go 500 when a 22 cal goes 540... because that can still easily go though you, or just make a deep wound.
Even those paintball things will kill you if you got the right position with 500 fps… that’s why I say, that is impossible… because I don’t even think its physically possible to get a .12 cal bullet to go almost as fast as a 22 cal…

Well if I'm not mistaken when you play paintball and shoot someone, you know where you hit him....While in airsoft you don't....Unless he has a bruise....
Also, isn't it easier to find a place to play paintball then it is airsoft?

hmm 2 things really
paintball is alot of fun ..painful at time but fun, its easier to play because you know if u hit em or not unless ur spraying under cover then nevermind, paintball guns fire at about 1.5 jouls and more thats not enough to perice the skin and after fireing the bullet slows down as it is, hence u see the arching on a bullet after fired
AEG's GAS or anyother of airsoft gun are more than enough to easily fire over 500fps through intence upgrading, anygun with more than 200fps which most people use anyway normaly 350 max you can tell when ur hit..not as much so if ur in baggy clothing
If your starting airsoft dont buy a sniper rifle..you need to rent first before buying if they rent, if u cant just buy a assualt rife or smg depending on location..outdoor or indoor, sniper rifles are for more...experianced players

Are you kidding? You can upgrade AEG's to shoot at 500fps. Illegal in most tournaments, and it WILL hurt like shit, but its not gonna kill you. The average gun shoots at 300fps. Ask any airsoft shop owner. Plus that might be joules. If so than with the weight of one of those .12 cal bullets go about 1200 joules. The average airsoft gun using .2g bb's is (328fps in this example) 1 joule. A desert eagle gets 1700 joules with .50ae caliber rounds.

Wrong again, buddy. It's very possible. That's also why we have minimum engagement rules. Anything firing over 350 can not be fired within 20 feet. Anything firing over 400 must fire on semi-automatic only, and have all automatic capabilities disabled, and can not fire within 30 feet. When these rules are broken, that's when people start to bleed. Trust me, it's happened to me plenty of times.
*EDIT* That's how we play at most fields down here, at least.

Christ, don't buy from Airsplat, whatever you do. There's a reason they have 41 complaints against them with the Better Business Bureau. I don't suggest buying from Evike either, I have my fair share of horror stories from when I've dealt with them at their walk-in location over here, not to mention online.
Just buy one of UTG's MP5s if you're strapped for cash. By most standards they suck, but they're better than everything else in that price range.

I would have also said dont buy anything you see in at amazon.com. They may be cheap but they suck and they alot of people say they come ****ed up. In fact try to buy it in a store. Sword stores also often carry airsoft guns. Ask if you can try it out and they usually let you fire a couple rounds. I hear shortys and depot53 are good online shops but havent bought from them

I suggest Airsoft Extreme (www.airsoftextreme.com). I go to them for most of my gear, and they've never gone wrong when upgrading one of my guns. Their staff is very knowledgeable, helpful, and punctual. As far as their online service goes, they're very prompt about shipping items and dealing with problems. If you're near one of them, I suggest walking into one of their retail locations, you'll learn a lot about the sport, and what you should be looking for.
Another place to avoid, though, is Jungletoy. Not only do they intentionally hire people with no knowledge whatsoever of airsoft (so as to prevent theft to an extent), they only offer very poor quality guns, and their customer service is more of a disservice than anything else.

I highly recommend any and all Tokyo Marui guns. As far as AEGs go, they are by far some of the best. I'd also suggest newer Classic Army guns. In the past, they were generally pretty poor, but in the past few years they've improved to the point where quality-wise, they are on par with Marui. A plus about CA guns is that they generally come with metal bodies, which Marui AEGs usually don't, though you can buy a metal body kit for anywhere between $50 and $200. If Marui continues the trend they started with the Type 89 (great gun btw, I love mine like a child), then they too will have metal bodies on all of thewir guns within a few years.
If you're just looking for something to plink around in your back yard with, though, then take Arganius's advice and buy a CYMA LPEG. Lately, they've been showing to be pretty good for what they are.
