my family has had a samsung hdtv for about 6 months and i know that it is hd ready. And to fully make it hd i need a hd tuner. What i don't understand is how this tuner is going to change the picture to hd. We have regular comcast, which is about 80 channels or so. So can anyone explain the whole hdtv thing to me.

I honestly don't know for sure, but i think it has something to do with mirrors, and, obviously, a higher resolution of pixels.

HDTV gets it's higher definition by using smaller differences in transmission frequence to represent different colours. an HDT is capable of picking up these deviations and interpreting it into a TV-ready signal, where and ordinary TV tuner cannot.

You'll need a new provider, or a new service (If comcast has a HD line -- not too found of cable)

There is, however, one network I know of that supports High Def. Voom. I'm mad at them because they licensed Samerai 7 for TV view, and I wanted to see it on AS.
