So what, if anything, will be imported from the old site? Should we make a SS sticky/thread, and IGN sticky/thread, a guide sticky/thread? The guide sticky might be helpful, as I don't think Saint's method of posting guides will be very efficient.

i dont reccomend the buy/sell/trade thread since its been pretty useless for most of the time.

I like the buy/sell/trade thread. But I suggest on MAKING a new IGN thread, since a couple of them already quited, and some might join this forum

Actually, i think the Buy/sell/trade thread should be its own sub forum if it actually starts getting used, because it would be hard to go throught each post to see if there was a reply to your post about selling a single item

The IGN and Screenshot stickies where the only ones that I ever saw getting much use, so those would be nice.

My suggestion is for a Screenshot sub-forum where people can post their galleries of screenshots.
They could...
-Make one main topic and edit their post and receive comments from people
OR
-Post new topics for more screenshots.
Afterall, I find my maplestory experience based on how inspired I am to level and having a large group of pictures always keeps me ready to train.

I wanted to post this last night, but it was getting to late...

Well, the new site will definitely take getting used to. I do miss the old gray layout of the old Forum57.

However, using this standard type of forum, allows for much greater capacity for organization. As some others have stated, I also suggest entire different subforums for screenshots and buying/selling. Sleepywood.net has a good forum setup, although I wouldn't know how far the admins here are willing to go in terms of organization.

Buying, selling, and price checks could all be done in a market section, and possibly divided up among different servers (Scania, Bera, etc). The only problem with this would be that we have so few members in each of these servers, which might make it difficult for marketing to be effective.

As for screenshots, they could be divided up between things like hacker/glitch reporting, item finds, scrolling achievements/failures, event meets, leveling, etc. Having a more organized screenshot section would certainly make it easier to sift through the mass amounts of screenshots. If members could post their own threads to show screenshots, it would make it much easier for others to comment and to be able to read those comments for feedback or further discussion.

On another topic, it seems that a lot of people are already on their way to getting their post count to as high as possible. Others have scrambled in an attempt to remake popular stickied threads on forum57 in hopes that a mod will sticky it on this new forum. Rather than give these members the glory of a (more or less undeserved) sticky, I suggest that all standard sticky threads be made by mods only, and all other attempts at stickies ignored or closed. For example, there were three different people who attempted to make a "Post your Screenies" thread.

As for guides, many people had copied and pasted guides that weren't their own, in an attempt to help the mods get the important stuff over. However, some people who made these guides are still active, and they must be the ones to post their new guides on this forum. That way, they can update it and continue discussions for a thread that is rightfully theirs. Zadam has 3 guides in the guide section, but none of them were posted by him, even though he's still an active member here. Others like SciCkmot and Dazzatron also had threads copied for them, and they're still active too. Basically, what I'm saying is to encourage old users to re-post their own guides, and have mods delete any copies that were made by others.

Back on the issue of post counts, other forums make it so some subforums don't increase post counts. The admins could select whatever subforums for this depending on which ones turned out the most spam.

On the subject of spam, I think it's important for the mods to enforce some greater control over spam or other broken rules. As said, it seems inevitable that some people will go on mass posting sprees to get their counts back up.

As for the forum itself, a few different skins would be nice, and I miss the old emoticons... we could use some better ones here.

Oh, and it's nice that I can always see how many posts/threads are in each section. The only section with more posts than maplestory is general, but we have more threads >_> We also have around 100 times, literally, more posts than around 80% of the other sections.

And if you want an avatar, it's simple. Get the picture, save it to your hard drive, and in the avatar uploader just press browse and grab the pic. Voila.
