But on topic you should have a sort of a main site with guides that (members)
post on the forum, and you (or whoever) post them on the main site under guides. And ascreenshot area, thats kind of stuff kind-of like some other fan-sites. And put on the main site a downloads secction so people won't have to wander in the forums looking for downloads (I hate doing that)
