I can easily say this is one of the best muds ever. It's been around since 1996 and has been growing ever since with an average of 250 players online. The mud is easy to get used to, very addictive, many cool features, good player killing, questing, good staff, etc.. I could go on naming many good things about this MUD. Very easy to navigate around with a good compass.

It looks too text-based in the screenshots, is it really that good?

It in fact is all text-based, I though all muds are. :X
In my opinion it's very good, have been playing for a long time now and so have many other people that play.

I tried a text game out a dozen times. The name and other stuff sounded good but i just couldnt understand it. There was one game that almost came close to being real good. I think it was Achiena or something, anyway it was really good. Text based or not i played it 24/7.

This is the First MUD i've played and i love it!!!
I started playing 2 days ago and so far it is awesome!
i tried a few other muds after this one and none are nearly as good as this one.

Sadly the game needs some editing with the boring text and the spelling ^^ at rodenty posts.

If anyone else has started playing Materia Magica after reading this post, feel free to leave your in-game characters name and I will help you out with anything you need to the best of my ability.

This was my first MUD, and my favorite. But I stopped for a week, went back, and forgot everything and what to do... So, I don't play it anymore... Don't want to start over or anything... Plus, i'm not the fastest reader I know, so I can't keep up as well...

Meh, Materia Magica may be one of the older muds out there, but the owner has taken nearly everything in the game from hundreds of other games and websites. Adding to that, the owner dosent listen to anyone in the player base (unless you make huge donations to the game), and if you dont donate, dont plan on getting anywhere in the game in less then a decade.

Overall on a scale of 1 - 10, 10 being best, Materia Magica scores an 11....a minus 11 that is.

Leck, you're a dick and that was a very bad joke.
To anyone who doesn't like this game, tough, go try another. Text-based games CAN be good, but they usualy require more effort than graphical games. If you can't spell, type, or read, then you shouldn't be on a computer or anywhere outside of school.

If you like text-based games, and for some reason do not like this game, I sugggest that you try some of the games over at http://www.ironrealms.com

If you don't like any of those games OR the game that this topic suggests, then odds are you won't like any text-based games.

Oh, you mean Achaea. Too bad they delete your character if you're inactive.
