unfortunately, i reckon it is. D2 has been a long term competator for a lot of games in the genres, but i suppose it's being supressed by blizzards own product (being World of Warcraft) and other rpg's, such as Sacred, Silverfall Neverwinter Nights (2). Just see it this way, no game is everlasting, D2 was bound to die out one day, appearantly, that day is quite close
Well, D2 has been dead for the past 3 years o.O

Apparently you two haven't been on battle.net in the past three years then. A few months ago when I was playing, it was still alive and kicking in terms of traffic.

Blizzard killed the Diablo series because of WoW, which is possibly the worst move they ever made, considering Diablo was their biggest game franchise. But yes, Diablo 2 is slowly, but surely dying. The game HAS been out for like 7 years or something. I thought it would at least make the 10 year mark before it died out, though. I believe the game was released in 1999.

I thought it was 2000...
Diablo amazingly still has popularity atleast 10000 players daily and I still play it even though its turned to glitch filled hacker heaven.

and how exactly do you know? for as far as i'm concerned, there have no plans or whatsoever to even begin a D3 project. You can try again when blizzard officially announces the development of D3, which is very unlikely

Which will blow away Diablo.
Diablo was okay, but not nearly as good as hyped to be.

I know that hellgate:London is the diablo 3 or something but what I don't understand is how?
It's a fps and the monsters don't look medieval and the architecture is modern

Well, it's not a direct sequel, really. Just some of the same creators made this game, that's the only real connection.
Oh, and of course, demons.

People don't even know the real reason Diablo was such a famous game, most people joined the band wagon. it was famous because it was the first game to use DirectX5 (or was it 3). Its game play was great but its kinda like FFVII in a way (the hpye and what not, not the game play or anything else)
But yeah theg ame has been selling still at stores and its been out for what 6 years?

Then I don't see the hype. It looks like painkiller too me or am I near-sighted?

Your near sighted.
BTW. D2 was released in 2001 so it had six years. Plus its not like its so dead you cant find a game. Still pretty active.

Everything has an end.
Think about it - D2 lasted longer than a lot of titles out there.
Far longer than the usual shelf life of games.
And that's just amazing.

Diablo 2 isn't dying at all. The game is going on six years old and still has a bigger audience than a lot of MMORPGs.

I just started playing again, and i realized its better than alot of free mmorpgs games out there still, and even some p2p games too. I think diablo 2 is like the Final fantasy frenchise, no matter how old the game gets they are still fun to play. Plus i was just on and they had 12,000+ people on.....:eye:

I still remember my first time playing Diablo2 online in Battlenet ... Some Korean dude power-leveld me and gave me tons of stuff regularly ... lost contact with him for a year now ... Such a good guy ^_^
