Important Gunster Announcement
On behalf of ijji and staff, we want to thank you for playing Gunster at ijji.com.
Due to various reasons we regret to inform you that we will be closing down the Gunster service effective February 14. It was a difficult decision for us as we greatly value our users. We have tried everything in our power to improve the game play; however, we realized that we could not enhance the game to meet your level of expectation nor our level of quality.
We would like to sincerely apologize to our Gunster users and thank you for your patience. It means a lot to us that you have continued to be dedicated, showing support and providing feedback for our games. We want to ensure you that we will continue to bring new and better games to ijji. Along with the anticipated live service of Soldier Front, Kwon Ho and Pocket Masters which will be offered soon; ijji will also bring a variety of fun new games throughout this year. We hope you will find a new game you can enjoy at ijji.
We want to thank you once again for playing at ijji and extend our sincerest apologies.

No one was playing, costs of running the servers were extensive, no one was playing, Ijji had too many games running, no one was playing.
I guess that's why they closed it down.
I would be alright with it if it wasn't for that medal thing. I got too annoyed to finish it and never got to online battles. =/

This game does have weird lag. The more I lagged, the less I lagged ingame. The less I lagged, the more I lagged in game.

Yeah... Gunster was really fun and was the only competitive online game that I felt I had skill.
Maybe Acclaim can snatch up the rights to this game and base it from the japanese version. But that's only a possibility... (PS: Acclaim and Ijji are both owned by NHN Corp.)

whats Bigshot
A korean 2d shooter like gunster but better graphics and way more difficult bosses. (The japanese version is in beta so it isn't as good as korean) You actually have to remember how to dodge certain attacks and the higher the difficulty, the more difficult to dodge the moves because they have been changed. You don't have a booster but you do have double jump and 3 weapons per character and over 6 characters.

the game itself is pretty game as a time waster....
i would have like it if they got more stage and boss... the stage mode isnt too challanging at all... and i dont really like the tdm or dm mode. way too repetive..

I'd just wish the English version of the game was based of the Japanese version and not the Korean version.
The Japanese version is WAY more up to date then the korean version (Even though the game came from korea...). It has more weapons, characters, and Actual organized events. And has working hacking protection (nProtect protection... yes. But it's still better then nothing...)

You want to know why Gunster is closing down? Believe me, it's not the game. It's IJJI.
Gunster is an amazing game. When it first came out, it had 1000-2000 players at a time. Then, the hacker outbreak. Players complained and complained.
All ijji said was "we're doing our best to find solutions."
They didn't do sh*t about the hackers.
Apart from the hacker problem, hundreds of people couldn't even PLAY Gunster because of the "Cannot connect to lobby" error. Players seeked help, complained and complained.
All ijji said was "we're doing our best to find solutions."
They didn't do sh*t about the error.
Besides that, the game was full of bugs. Constant game crashes irritated the HELL out of players. Some players even quit because of the bugs. Players complained and complained.
All ijji said was "we're doing our best to find solutions."
They didn't do sh*t about the bugs.
Lack of updates. Gunster lacked updates. Ijji instead concentrated on having "events" that fell apart in the end.
Play with GMs event downfall:
- Allowed a hacker to play and WIN, despite other players in the same room complaining.
- GMs sucked so bad that in the Mission event, when players wanted to play the hardest mission on the hardest mode, GMs forced "nicely" for the players to play the easier missions to "increase their chances of winning" when in truth, the GMs wouldn't be able to survive the whole mission.
- Prizes that were supposed to be given out long ago (including a PSP and DS Lite) hasn't been distributed, even till NOW.
- Terribly organised and handled (The GMs couldn't handle certain situations and only made things worse.)
Christmas event downfall:
- It was a good event, but they should've updated the game instead of having this event.
- The event was supposed to end on the 3rd of January, but it was SO obvious ijji was lazy, that they ended the event only 2 weeks after.
Referral event downfall:
- Not enough compensation (You get 300 chrome for inviting a friend to play, which is very little.)
- Players can cheat by making multiple accounts.
- They had the event when Gunster was at the verge of dying.
Players kept on saying they wanted GUILDS, NEW WEAPONS, CTF MODE, NEW CHARACTERS, i.e., STUFF THAT HACKERS HAD ACCESS TO. Guess what?
They didn't give a sh*t about updates.
In the end, the reason why there are so little people playing Gunster is because of ijji's stupidity, not the game itself. Gunster/Gunstrike is a great game on it's own, but ijji somehow managed to kill a potentially great game.
CONGRATS, IJJI.
Just my 2 cents. I guess.

Unfortunately you're wrong. Except that the GMs aren't that good in Gunster hah. We actually don't have time to play and practice the games and be really good at them like we would want to. Out of the 6 GMs that we had at that time, we only had maybe 2 GMs that were decent in Gunster. The other 4 had never played yet.
As far as people claiming it's our fault, that is false. IT IS the game, not ijji. I can't get into specifics but lets just say we have chosen not to work with the developer since they have chosen to not support their game. We did the best we could from our side. Get it?
ijji.com is only the publisher, not the developer. When someone publishes a book, they don't write the contents, they just put the authors work out there. So everyone that blames publishing companies for crappy games needs to get their facts straight. Only thing we can be blamed for is not having a stricter contract for unforseen issues.
Anyways, that's my .02 cents.
If there are any questions pertaining to our games, i'll try to answer them as best as possible.
And whoever said we own Acclaim, huh?
P.S, if you didn't know already, I work for ijji.com. I am in charge of SF.

Ah I see where you guys are getting confused.
NHN is the company.
We do not own Acclaim. When I say "we", I am speaking of NHN.
When I said I work for ijji.com, I work for ijji.com in terms of representation, not company. ijji.com is just a portal name, not company name.
Acclaim is publishing some of the games developed by NHN in Korea. That is the only connection we have with them. For example, EA recently published Counter-Strike Source but it's still developed and owned by Valve.
Acclaim's CEO has decided to follow Korea's business model in terms of micro transaction free games. Some of the first games by the new Acclaim business model were from Hangame.com, which is NHN Korea's game portal equivelant to ijji.com in the states.
Makes sense?

After reading your post, I guess Ijji isn't to be blamed fully. But why was a hacker allowed to win an event, and why weren't the players given the prizes they should've won long ago? Also, why wasn't Gunster updated at all?
And it's NOT the game. When I say "game", I mean it's fun factor, ignoring other factors such as bugs/hackers that make the game worse. On it's own, Gunster is a great game.

I really hope you reply, because I'm a member of a forum consisting of quite a number of Gunster players who were pissed off that Gunster is being closed down, and are still blaming ijji. I hope that with your next reply, things can be set straight.
P.S. - Are winners of the play with GMs event still gonna get their prizes, or not?

You have to understand, we can not assume someone is a hacker unless we have visual proof. At that time, he was not a reported hacker to us. Just someone saying he's a hacker is not good enough. Even if we believe you 100%, we still need proof. It's a liability to us if we take action without evidence. During the event, he was unknown to us as a hacker. Also, we only had 1 person working on Gunster fulltime at that time. Yes i'll agree he did not do a very good job which is why he's not here anymore. But that's a whole nother story. As far as Gunster not being updated, you'll have to ask the dev. Like I said, they chose not to support the game anymore and I really shouldn't be talking about that. :)

I was unaware of this since the former P.M. for Gunster is no longer here. I can check on that. But there is a new policy for our prizes, we can no longer give prizes to winners outside of North America. But i'll definately check on it. Do you have aim or msn? PM me so we can fix this issue.

LilPimp69, the hacker in question, was a very "outspoken" person and very well known to be a hacker. A "celebrity" of sorts (the kind that even entertainement tonight doesn't like... zing!)
There had been dozens of screenshots of him hacking, publicly discussing the fact that he hacks (on ijji's own forums usually), reported for threats of hacking others accounts (which had simply been robotically replied to and forgotten) and was obviously hacking during the event.
The fact that the GMs hosting the event were the only people on gunster that didnt know he was a hacker (or notice for that matter!) even tho it is their JOB to read up on all the crap i mentioned before) is kind of insulting to the people who actively played that game. A 12 year old with a below active IQ who can read a maximum of 9 words a minute could've done the same ammount of work. Thus the "12 year old" comment.

I had won a gift certifigate for Amazon.com after participating in one of ijji's surveys... Only to realize that Amazon.com doesnt ship to canada. When i wrote to the ijji help desk about this, i got NO reply.

I don't disagree, with your statements. Like I said, the GM for Gunster is no longer with us. Also, we did not have a established Customer Service department until GunZ was in full effect. But it's still no excuse, you are right, we did mess up regardless of our situation. To tell you the truth, since Gunster will no longer be in service, we as GMs were never provided with the proper admin tools for Gunster. It's a bit embarassing to say that we as GMs had very little to no control over abusive users. But if you read my earlier comments in this thread, it should explain parts of why.
