Well first off, that song really really really sucks. All of the members lack talent. A monkey could write better guitar, drums, bass, and vocals for that song that the members did. And the vocals would sound 100x less whiny and lame.

But yeah, W.A.R. really looks like they took WoW and made it pvp based.

Ah, I don't like it.
It was probably to be expected from Warhammer, but it just looks like a slightly dolled up version of WoW. In fact, it looks similar to WoW to the point where I'm disappointed-- maybe it's just me, but I expected some kind of technological advancement, not the same game I've been playing since '04. And to further grieve me, the art style used in the graphics is not unique or interesting.

I'm not impressed, and likely won't pick it up. The only thing I really have to look forward to now, other than possibly another WoW expansion, is the new untitled Square Enix MMORPG. :(

Blizzard has never bought the rights to Warhammer. Something like that I would know about. I been following Warhammer's development since Hogshead Publishing had the rights to it in the early 1980's.

The rights to the miniature combat system belong to Citadel Miniatures, a company owned by Games Workshop
The rights to the fantasy table top RPG belongs to Black Industries. Another sub company of Games Workshop.

Mythic entertainment has the rights to Warhammer: Age of Reckoning ( MMORPG).......

Blizzard stole the character designs and a few others things from Warhammer. They never bought the rights to Warhammer nor did they buyout Games Workshop or Mythic Entertainment.

Yup, I had to load the game up to check, but yeah. Relic is the publisher of Warhammer 40K (RTS).

Thats the old version of the alpha tested warhammer videos. There are sum cool pvp videos which are way cooler. It looks like a darker wow because this guy prob set his gamma and light stuff to low or his room was rlly dark.

Actually the atmosphere in Wahammer fantasy RPG( pen and paper version) was grim and bleak. In certain parts of the lands, you can see smoke during the day, lights at night( magic, fires, and explosions), and even faint scream and crys of war all the time.

The pen and paper version of Warhammer always described the land in dark times. I am not too suprised you will see a dark and dismal world in the Warhammer MMORPG.

If the game does continue on into expansions, expect to see quite a few disturbing factions to come.

I am hoping they allow the creation and use of seige weapons within the RvR enviroments. Flamebelchers, steam tanks, and orc chuckers....... It will be a pretty site to see if it has seige weapons in RvR.

Sigh...Sounds exactly the same except for three things:

in WoW you can't really "control" another zone, since there isn't a system that allows that.

In WoW you can't capture the opposing side's cities

In WoW everywhere is PVP, not split up into PVE or RVR zones (don't argue with me about the "oh what about a factions inherant zone?" because you can flag yourself for PVP there too)


So as you can see, WAR's PVP looks very similar to WoWs too :P

Orcy are bulky and dwarves are supposed to LOOK fat but they are bulky too....It's their midgety size that gives them the fat look.

Of course War's pvp will look similar to WoWs.. Why? Wow ripped off a few things off DAoC (No lies there folks) And seeing WH (as I like to call it) Is basicly built off what they started with DAoC .. But added different things so it wouldn't clash with their old game (RvR from start .. A few areas that are similar to faction based game play, but not as grindy .. o.o Look did WH just rip off WoW for ripping off DAoC? XD) But ya.. You'll see alot of similar things in the pvp for the reason I spoke above ^_^

it plays and from the looks of it has the feel of a sightly faster paced version of DARK AGE OF CAMELOT. that game that mythic made before this one. its even qouted that WAR is the spiritual sucessor to DAoC. so whoever says it looks exactly like how wow plays. your an idiot. enough said.

the art style comes from the 30 years of lore and artistic design from warhammer and blizzard and warcraft based their art design off of warhammer. in an old issue of white dwarf magazine there was even a fan mail sent by one of the developers abot how they are making this game beased off of a simliar art and lore style that they got from warhammer because they were so fond of the game.

if your expecting this game to be like wow with more pvp your going to be disapointed it more or less is going to play as a more fun intense version of DAoC. expect less hack and slash and a little slower paced combat with alot more strategic decisions being made.

and that footage is dark because the gamma was obviously turned down on the video. if youve seen ingame screenshots or other footage you can tell that it the screen is brighter on those shots and the detail is turned down more in this footage because it was alpha.

Chaos and Empire are both humans.... well sort of.........

Chaos is the evil in all hearts, it tries to control and twist you to its will. Once subdued by chaos, you go through a change in mind and body. Insanity, mutation, death all comes with the price of being chaotic. Basically Chaos is another faction of humans that use the power of Chaos to keep their kingdom in....errr order?

Those races are just the basics. Each race has their own carreers, So far, their are 24 careers. I know for a fact, that skaven (humannoid ratmen) and beastmen (those who were tainted by the chaos and has head of beasts) will be in the next expansion. They are going to introduce one of the other dark factions lead by a demon named Nurgle, the god of plague and disease......

The new things to me is the fact that you can play the evil side of the game.

One of the main race/careers I am going to be playing are the Chaos Chosen. Think of giving up your soul and body to give you new skin (armor) with a bonus....... Basically the armor becomes your skin, living breathing part of you. It protects you if you do what your supposed to do...... cause chaos..........

This is what I remember from the PnP version. I always wanted to see how they could make this a playable race in the PnP version. I guess the closest I will get to this is playing the career in the MMORPG version.

I prefer the PnP version of RPG than any other type of RPG. Your only limited by what the GM/DM says can or cannot happen or the roll of the dice. PnPRPGs seems a lot more immersive to me than MMORPGs.
