It all started 2 years ago as a small hobby/experimental project I built to learn PHP. It ended up quite a bit larger than I expected and I ended up with dozens of volunteers and thousands of players.
It's a free text-based MMORPG set in a constantly expanding world. It works like standard interactive fiction - you click links to make decisions. However I added a lot of new features in such as stats, items, quests, battle, and chat.
I built my own scripting language for it early on and the PHP compiles the world from a language as simple as HTML. This means just about anyone can build and improve the world without any PHP knowledge whatsoever.
