America's army pretty yawn boring after a while and its more like lucky shot you bastard than anything else. Good for beginning FPSers other than that most veterans should brush it aside

Well, to decide if its worth downloading for you, you should probably say what your looking for... regardless, here are my thoughts.
If your expecting something quick and fast-paced like Counter Strike, you'll be disappointed. America's Army is much slower-paced and tactical. You'll find yourself slowly opening doors, traveling in groups and peeking around corners to spot enemies before they spot you. If you rush through a majority of the maps, you'll be dead before you know it and the game will simply be frustrating for you. Despite that though, there are many times you'll find yourself in a situation where bullets are flying and you need to act quickly. Every map also has it's own objectives that can be completed as an alternative to simply killing the other team. Both ways will win the round and both will get you points, so you can kind of pick and choose.
There are a few things people tend to dislike though, but I personally prefer them so you might too.
Before you can play online, you need to get through basic training. If you want to, you can go through slightly more tedious and boring training to get more options (more weapons, medic capabilities, etc) when playing online. I personally think it weeds out the people who had no intention of playing properly and to start out it's relatively painless for those who really want to get better.
Unlike most deathmatch FPS's, you do not respawn right away after dieing. You wait until one team wins (by completing objectives or killing all of the other team), then everyone starts over again. Most people don't like waiting, it's a matter of preference. I personally enjoy spectating my team after I die. Of course, the spectating players cannot chat with players still alive or else they might cheat and relay information.
There aren't levels persay, but there is ranking called honor. By completing objectives and having a good kill/death ratio, you get points. Those points go towards your ranking and after you get say 1000 or so points, you go up in honor. They give no benefit, I suppose it's just for fun or in some cases, bragging rights. I personally do enjoy the feeling that I am getting something for the time spent playing, even if it is just a higher number.
And there you have it. If you have any questions, feel free to ask lol. It's free, you really don't have anything to lose (as long as your PC meets the requirements). It's a fun game for those looking for something different compared to CS and other fast-paced FPS's. Enjoy!

IMO, America's army is a fun game if you can find a good server to play on.
Snipers are very useful in this game. Espeacially in that desert area( I haven't played AA in a while) where theres lots of houses everywhere. You can practically enter every house and load your sniper riffle ( you need to pass Adv. Marksmanship test to use snipers)
Most snipers are very accurate. Another good thing is that you can customize your guns. You can start off with an M4, add a flashlight, add a scope( woot auto snipers?) , or even add those... err kinda like legs so that the gun doesn't recoil so much when you are crouching/crawling.
I definately recommend this game if you can handle it. Else, just get CS :D

Well, if you don't want a game that is a "RUN INTO BATTLE SHOOT THEN DIE THEN RESURRECT THEN GO INTO BATTLE AGAIN" type game, I don't think you should pick this up. America's Army is more based on reality, and you would play the game slower, like you were in the army. I highly suggest playing this game because its fun :D. There are a lot of experienced players in the game where you can play and get good at, etc.
