well i'm gonna get a new computer next sunday and i know i should make my
own, but my parents don't want to give me the funds lol. so now i'm just looking
for some pre builts and found some good ones in a HUB magazine (canadian
technology mag). i'm not really a hardcore gamer, but i'm just looking for a
computer that meets the normal requirements to run games.
(and yea i live in canada)
Sites that i found in HUB:
http://www.cicc-computer.com/
http://www.pcvonline.com/
a decent one i found in CiCC for $748 CDN (with mouse and keyboard only)
• CPU Intel Core 2 Dual E6300 1.86G
• MB ASUS P5LD2 Intel 945 LGA775
• MEMORY 1G DDR2 533 PC4200
• HDD WD 250G 8M 7200RPM SATAII
• DVD LG 18X DVD+/-RW Dual Layer
• Video Card NVIDIA 7300GT 256M PCI-E
• Lan Card 100/1000M Network on board
• Sound Card 5.1 Audio surround on board
• Case ATX Case with front USB/audio
• PS ATX 550W Dual Fan
• K.B/ Mouse Logitech K.B / OPTICAL MOUSE
also should i get Vista installed in it or just stick with XP?

That's odd, I could probably build a better computer than that for less... XD It's usually cheaper to buy your own parts and assemble it yourself. :)
That computer looks fine for casual gaming, the 7300GT is rather weak but it depends on what games you intend to play on it.
And... Regarding Windows: XP has been proven to be faster, and Vista doesn't have much support as of now, but it's not that big a deal... I'd choose Vista over XP if I had that choice, though.

You might as well just waste your money on a shitty Dell or something.
Seriously, custom made computers are better and costs less.

well i'm not looking for a hardcore gaming computer, just one that can meet up
with the recommended/normal specs.
and i do know that making one costs much cheaper then buying pre-builts,
problem is that i don't really know what parts or how to make one lol.
friend of mine says that all it is is just buying parts and mounting them on the
case.i'm just kinda paranoid in breaking some parts or buying the wrong ones.
plus i don't know much about computers besides some specs and some basics.

Its worth the four hours of google searching that it would take to learn how, trust me.

so can i get some recommendations on parts or a tutorial on making computers?
i'm already looking up some parts on www.pcvonline.com.
and also i can't order anything online so i hope i can get my parts on the site
i mentioned.

indeed the computer you planned to have can meet up the normal specifications of some games. Probably can play a decent quality of dx10 generation games...but i bet by the end of 2007 orm aybe early 2008, your computer will be crap.
If oyu get a new comp, at least aim for Geforce 79XX models.

First thing -
Get.
A better.
Processor.
Seriously man, if your looking for a computer to last a you a while you sould at least get a 3 ghz processor.
But other then that... I guess it's "ok". Although I'd have to suggest a better video card and some more RAM, but you can upgrade all that stuff after you've bought it.
I seriously recommend it though... my computer is honestly a pretty good rig for casual gaming... 3 ghz, 2 gb RAM. The only problem is my Nvidia 7300LT, it's basically a 5 series with a fancy name. But it came stock with the computer so I guess I can't complain.

.
I dont think so. It's more important to get a 2.4ghz+ DUAL core. Better than getting a very high powered CPU which no games needs more than 2ghz until now.

Yeah, but the if he was going to be using it for a long period of time (2 years +), he'd be safer with a little better than recommended.

well right now my situation is building a computer, not buying pre-builts since it looks like the replies are answered to my starting post.
i could use some help with choosing a processor thats compatible with the mother board i mentioned as well as a graphic card around $200 CDN.
