It's what we call "distance lag". The further you live away from the main servers, the higher ping you get. Distance lag has nothing to do with how good your connection is.
I guess the only solution is to... Move to North America, or just play with your high ping. You're not the only one xD.

Why are you complaining? Go abuse your high ping and kill people while you get a 10 second invincibility. Thats what lag does in SF.

In case you didn't know, lag goes both ways. So you don't get an advantage if you lag. People just don't understand this fact.

It depends on how good you are at the game if your crap at SF then lag IS an advantage if your really good then it will mean you and the enemy always end up killing each other at the same time. Personally I don't lag but it really annoys me when someone is lagging and i empty a clip into their head and they turn around and kill me then 10 seconds later they suddenly fall on the floor dead.

Since SF is more of a tactical-based FPS, and not very fast-paced, that rarely happens. 10 seconds is exaggerating. 1 second at most, maybe 2 if the other person has super lag (500 ping). But if you're good, or even average (like me) lag doesn't matter much in Soldier Front. If there WAS such a thing as 10 second lag, snipers would be useless. But they aren't.
~250 ping is not that bad.
in SF, high ping = 300+

America's Army is based on tactics. Heck, Battlefront 2 is based on tactics more. But Soldier Front?
You are eather the most positive thinker or your oblivious to the meaning. The game whether you like or not.. is like CS. (Go ahead flame me but its the truth) Its a fast-paced, run like your on fire, shoot wildly at the person till they are dead game.

My sniper was completely useless. The server and players lagged so badly that it took three shots in the head to kill them. And this is just when they aren't moving. Same with my current character that has a Steyr_AUG (you know, the semi-automatic rifle complete with a scope). It couldn't kill a fly (at least, this is the conclusion I came to). It took me 50 shots to kill one person. That's one and a half clips. This is also when they aren't moving.

I know when peopel live to close to me since my ping is around 30 and most games are guys with ping 270+ and just spray around on random hits and amazinlgy headshot me and go PWNAGE.
Laggers really mess the game up

Fixed it. I can deal with laggers. It's the glitchers I can't stand.

WARNING: WALL OF TEXT POST
kthx.
Only read if you have nothing better to do, or I'm replying to your post. ^^

True, the glitchers suck, and when you tell them to stop (even when they're on your team), they won't. They'll either blatantly deny it, say how "kool" it is to glitch, or just keep quiet and keep on sniping from afar. Let's hope Ijji does something about it and... Not let this game become the next Gunster.

Ping in SF has nothing to do with how far you live away from a person. Unlike GunZ which is computer to computer, Soldier Front is computer to server to computer. Meaning your ping depends on how far away you live from the Soldier Front servers. I think.
You're lucky SF is no GunZ. There's no K-style in SF, people can't run on walls, and players' running speed is not all THAT fast. So if you're smart, killing people will be of no problem.
Uh, if you get killed by "nubsprayers", then you're playing the game wrong. o_O

First of all, sniping a fly is a lot harder than sniping a person O_O.
The Steyr Aug is not a good weapon on it's own. A full clip can't kill (or so it seems), it's not extremely accurate, and it's scope isn't all that zoomy. BUT! IF you used it with a shotgun as your secondary weapon (the big one that does lots of damage, not the other, smaller one.) You could hide behind some cover, shoot from afar (medium to long range), damage them a little, hide behind a corner, take out your shot gun, and finish them off when they're close enough. Since you're shooting from afar, it'll give you ample time to hide and switch to your shot gun.
Conclusion: Steyr Aug is no Machine gun.
Snipers in the wrong hands... Won't do too well. I've met OH SO MANY sniper noobs who hide at the worst places possible, and get ambushed. Sniper is TERRIBLE at close range, so most snipers who get ambushed are as good as dead. Also, with snipers, you need very quick reflexes to ZOOM and shoot INSTANTANEOUSLY, because otherwise, you'd be missing most of the time. BUT, in the right hands, sniper rifles are among the best weapons in the game. Most fo the sniper pros use their ultra-quick reflexes and pwn noobs in seconds. They can handle both long AND close range situations. They're so fast that even in close-range, they'll kill you before you can ambush them.
Conclusion: Sniper rifles are not noob-friendly.
Also, unless your sniper's repair bar is full, or very nearly full, don't aim for the head. Maybe once you're more experienced, but when you're starting out, it's not a smart move.

Have you actually tried the game before? If so, have you tried the "run and gun" method you're talking about?
SF is not HEAVILY based on tactics, and you definitely need some reflex as well, but you need like... 70% strategy and 30% reflex. Maybe 60% strategy, 40% reflex. Sure, you can apply SOME things used in CS in this game, but only to a certain extent. For example, weapon switching is FAR from instant (takes like 1-2 seconds), so you can't run around with a knife (to increase your speed) and then all of a sudden switch to the ak74 and kill an unsuspecting victim. Running around with a knife is a pretty stupid thing to do (prone to ambushes), unless you're really sure of what you're doing.
Lots more things I can add... But I want to know whether you (Nosley) have actually played SF yet. 'Cause if you haven't... Then I rest my case.
P.S. - Don't look at the SF videos in YouTube. It'll give you a wrong impression of the game.
-----------------------------------
Why am I trying to support SF so much? Am I some SF fanatic who denies every negative thing said about SF?
I'm not. I know SF is far from perfect, and has it's flaws, but certain things that were posted... Which I think we're a little wrong, I express my opinion. I may not be 100% correct, or even 70% correct, but I'm free to express my views on a game, right? ^^
Thanks!

I have beat entire teams by myself simply by using no tactics just running around with a knife, in shanghai getting to the submarine, occasionally killing the entire enemy team please dont tell me this is a game based on tactics because from what I have seen the only time tactics matter is when your fighting against a team of laggers in which case your only choice is to flank them and kill them from behind oh and I am ranked quite high in soldier front so don't tell me I haven't played it for long enough to have an opinion.

Trust, that's not the problem. I've seen people (that do not lag) kill in a maximum of 10 shots with a steyr_AUG (which also has a fair amount of accuracy). Some have also complained that I kill within 4 hits with the AUG. It's not a matter of it being a bad gun (same with the PSG, my gun was always repaired because I knew what effect it would have on it), it's a matter of playing with people who have 10 year old computers, and MSN dial-up connections. The lag whilst sniping, is sometimes too unbearable, unless, however, you find a good place to hide (or glitch).

Glitchers=people who abuse glitches.
I don't really see many people who use a glitch in the map as it technically doesn't get them really far in kills. But the game is flawed as bullets fly right thru solid objects.
Ijji isn't going to change those games they just buy them for north america use.
Where do you think they host THE SERVERS? maybe in CALIFORNIA. I have around 30 ping and when I see a person who has around the same I ask them if they live in the bay area. Most of them say yes. So I can conclude they host it around here. sorry maybe I didn't make myself clear.( I can't prove it though).
Snipers are easy as hell to use just keep firing at there direction and you will hit them eventually.
The game isn't tactics its mainly see who gets the first shot, in which most people run like a mad maniac smashing there keyboards in crouching and strafing.

You're wrong, then.
Bullets DON'T fly through solid objects, unless you use the wall glitch, in which bullets WILL go through the "wall" in front of you.
On the contrary, using the wall glitch with a sniper at hand usually gives the glitcher TONS of kills, because of where the wall glitches are situated.
Hospital map - directly outside the DNA room, so if people try to take the DNA sample, snipers can easily snipe them from outside.
Kinabalu - Directly in front of the black box, so it's pretty difficult to take the box, even when lots of players run for the box and scatter.
And snipers aren't affected by lag that much in this game.
SF's lag system... Is a bit different. If you hit, you hit.

for all the people complaining about not being able to kill anything, this isnt counter-strike, dont aim for the head, aim for the torso. biggest target = more likely to get hit.. and the sniper rifles arnt 100% accurate like in counter-strike, making it alot harder to get headshots.. luckily they still 1 hit kill if you aim for the toes.
tip to all the people who cant get 2x kills 0 deaths on this game.
Dont panic, use burst fire if using an m16, and aim for the waist up.

Well I am almost a one bar rank (30k+ xp) .. I have played the entire game as a sniper. I have the highest accuracy % I have seen on any person I have ever played with (most flutter between 1-2%). So I would like to think I have some idea of what I am speaking about....
1. Glitchers .. hit "P" screenshot the wankers and send them to the ijji staff. They are banning accounts for that ... which is a good thing!
2. Laggers suck, here is a quick run down on a pings and their subjective ratings:
1-100 > anyone in that range usually doesn't have any issues at all. Unlike other very ping specific titles such as UT(xxxx) or CS, etc
closer you get to 200 the more your going to feel something isn't quite right.
anyone you see over 200 is going to cause issues.
anyone over 300 (like all the 500 ping asian and euro players I see...) are just a pain in the *** to play with.
3. The game is a counter strike clone .. anyone that can't see that is either blind, or has some sort of mental disability. I am sorry but it's true.
Finally ...
If your using win2k pro and trying to play this game, be prepared to be extremely frustrated at this pos game. There is nasty glitch where you randomly lose control of your camera and it starts to spin wildly when you move.

I didn't post on HOW to glitch.
I just posted where they are, so people would be more aware... Ijji is gonna get rid of them sooner or later.
Unless you mean you don't want people to know WHERE the glitches are. o_O
