Hi. Many people are intimidated by the fact that Ragnarok Battle Offline is NOT in English. I have good news... Sara-Chan (not me!) has translated much of the game into English! Skills are in English now. Even those people talking in the background speak English now. =)

General Information: Ragnarok Battle Offline is a sidescrolling fighter with RPG aspects. It is based on Gravity's Ragnarok Online. There are 7 classes (Swordsman, Acolyte, Magician, Thief, Merchant, Archer, and Novice) to choose from and 2 genders for each class. Male and Female characters have different animations so it really feels like there are 12 classes. There are TECHNICALLY 6 classes, but there are huge differences between male and female characters!

Example:
Male Archer: Shoots arrows that descend. Arrow Rain (Grabs a whole bunch of arrows and shoots them all forward at the same time.)
Female Archer: Shoots arrows straight. Arrow Rain (Shoots many arrows into the air. They then come down diagonally and pierce through enemies.)

VERY different. =)

French Bread (the developers of this game) released three expansions. They added an Arena mode and several new maps. Unfortunately, there were no new classes added because that would take far too long to do.

Oh, and multiplayer is shared on the same computer. You can have up to three people playing at once. (And, yes, it gets crammed.)

The game has since been recognized by Gravity and appears on some of the official Ragnarok Online websites! There is NO official English version, but if you paid any attention at all, you would realize that this topic was made to point out the fact that Sara-Chan is translating the game at an amazing rate! The game could be 100% English soon, according to Sara-Chan. ^,^

It allows you to make virtual layers that you can active and deactivate. I use it to make "capsules" of games I install so that I can easily move them to other computers. I also use it when I'm not sure about a file that I want to open. (So, if it installs spyware, it's only installed on a virtual layer that I can remove easily.)


That was kind of random, but you may find it useful to install this game on a virtual layer.

Without the expansions, there are 8 stages. These last around 5-10 minutes each at first. After you beat all 8 stages with the 6 classes (any gender), you unlock *spoilers?*novice*spoilers?*. Once you beat the game with that, you unlock a 9th stage.

If you get the expansions, you get a bunch of new stages AND arena mode, which vary in length.

Overall, the game isn't terribly long, but it's very fun trying out new characters and character builds. For example, Double Attack (thief) actually makes a ghostly image of yourself that follow your for a while and mimics your movements! (Doing half your damage!) Couple that with a female thief (fastest class) and high agility and you have a blazing fast (before the expansions, female thieves could outrun the screen) double hitting character. That's only one build! You can also make a mage that spams Ice Bolt (drops 1 * Ice Bolt Level... bolts in randomly locations. If you max it, you get 10 Ice Bolts that drop randomly. Spam it for a cool effect!)

People on that forum were trying a year ago but they required the codes for monsters. Thanks for the patch, now I can see what the background characters say. I love this game, been on my computer for more then 3 years. BTW, its only with 3 people. Love playing this with my friends.

i uniinstalled the game because it was taking way too much space and wasnt even online so i didnt really like it

This game is fun... Though on the Third Stage it keeps freezeing up after I kill all the Nine Tails. Music is still playing, I just cant move and the game doesnt exit out... At all. I heave to restart to fix it since my screen is blank(When I try ctr+alt+delete). :(

The game is Good and easy without the expansion. Me and my 2 bro-s played it together. Was fun but our pc isnt very good so mostly we had like 3-10 frames per second and that was annoying. Afterall i got 1 expansion and there the monsters seemed much stronger, died always at Culvert dungeon and in the end i had to delete it because it took about 40% of my harddisk

Heh... Arena mode makes the expansions worth it!

Here in the Philippines, There's already Ragnarok Battle Online english version. You only have to buy the CD and you can play as long as you want.

I installed the game RBO from the RBO_INSTALL file on file cloud. But everytime i try to run the game nothing comes up >.>. I want to know whats going on? and dont mention my comp specs because they are way more the suffice for this game (brand new rig Alienware Aurora). Anyone know whats wrong?

if i remeber correctly it had some problems. I fixed mine by probreties on the exe->Compatibility->Compatibility mode-> Change it too Windows 2000

I know this is kinda late but on the translation patch it says only for Ex 3...I assume that that means that I need all 3 expansions but I ain't sure...Could someone please clarify?

Yes, you do need all 3 expansions because this hasn't been tested on the others. If it works good for you but careful, it might stuff up the game. Get the 3 expansions anyways, a lot more maps.

I have downloaded it already but still I'm not extracting it coz I don't know where I shall extract it... xP

how you work the patch

If you have all the 3 expansions you prolly have all those .exe files in 1 folder called RAGNAROK BATTLE OFFLINE then you put the patch in there it replaces the .exe files of expansion 3. If you DO NOT have all those files in 1 folder, there will problaly sub-folders of each expansion.. and there is supposed to be a expansion 3 folder so place it in there and replace all.. The following files are supposed to be replaced:
RBO_Ex3.exe
RBOEx3Config.exe
These will changed into english ones.. and there will be 2 other .exe files added called:
RBO_Ex3J.exe
RBOEx3ConfigJ.exe

You just have to use the RBO_Ex3.exe to start the game in english and use the RBOEx3Config.exe file to change the settings like the key config. :)
