Iceland Entertainment--Iceland Games

Hello. Iceland Entertainment(Iceland Games) is a small group in the making whose goal is to create free, online games (that can be downloaded from our site). We are specializing in 2D games, such as side-scrollers and such; though small 3D games shall be considered for the future. Iceland Ent. is quite a new group, and as a result we are looking for team members, whom will be able to work either long term or short term.

Our aim is to create free, 2D (possibly 3D) games targeted towards mainstream gamers who seek to play 2D rather than 3D -- or those whom donot have PC capabilities to play 3D games, but would like to play fun games with equal enjoyment.

Please note, that this is a FREE job, we are not paying! Well, except for a credit on the game.

The technology we are using is fairly basic. We are currently using a registered version of Game Maker by Mark Overmars. This is the easiest, and most economical way to create the games we want.

Iceland Ent. is looking for Game Maker Programmers, Pixel Artists, Concept Artists, Sound Designers (MIDI), and testers.

We're still looking for members of our team. I have some experience in Game Maker, but of course, I'll need help.

Our website is still in progress, and is not up yet. For the future, we are hoping to get ownership of something similar of www.IcelandGames.net.

You can contact me at dm.nx@hotmail.com, or of course, can post on this forum. I'll be happy to answer any questions you may have on the project.

Iceland Ent. hopes to create all, most notably side-scrollers and beat-em-ups. Much of our 2D inspiration comes from 90s games, such as famous games such as Streets of Rage.

Please, if there are any comments/questions you would like to say, feel free to ask me - and I'll do my best to answer them.

Hmm, shoulda contacted me about a year ago. I knew the GM scripting language inside and out (though networking and 3d was never my strong point). If you dig, you can find an old post of mine on their forums. I gave away a nearly complete RPG engine. (custom save/load functions that would convert lists and ds_maps into arrays, custom dialogue with built in cutscene movement and could trigger any other action through the dialogue AI, inventory system with equipping, attribute requirements, etc., basic combat with a rather complex AI system; monsters would determine who they wanted to attack the most and calculate the situation to decide what to do. Some simple dynamic light effects. Party system, shops, etc. And also a pretty cool system that would allow players to change the game (replacing some maps with alternate counterparts to adapt to what the players have done, etc)

Wow...that was a long rant. Well, just do a search for my posts in their community. (same screen name). I could possibly help you out if you run into any questions about the code, but I'm very busy and I haven't used GM in a year.

Good luck!

Let me know what you think.

Oh, and here's the link to the forum where I released it. http://forums.gamemaker.nl/lofiversion/index.php/t253765.html I mention a few things about the engine there (like why you won't see any random combat with its initial settings, etc)

Well I hope it helps. By the way, you should note a couple things.
A: You have to have a REGISTERED copy of GM 6.x
B: You'll have to comment out all of the parts that queue up music and videos (they're not included in the download.
and
C: You'll have to have a VERY good understanding of the GM code in order to understand any of that program. Half the time, I didn't even know what the hell I was doing.

Good luck with it!
