The next chapter in NCSoft's and ArenaNet's Guild Wars MMOG series is named Eye of the North and is due for release in Q3 this year, it's being reported.

According to The Inquirer, the Eye of the North is targeted at max-level characters and features "18 new multi-level dungeons, 40 new armour sets, 10 new Heroes and massive 150 new skills, out of which 50 belong only to PvE".

It's said the new chapter will also conclude events in Tyria following the end of Guild Wars: Prophecies, and seemingly too mark the end of Guild Wars.

An NCSoft representative declined to comment on this information when contacted earlier.

The Inquirer's report goes on to claim details on Guild Wars 2. It says the sequel is currently pencilled in for release 2009-to-2010 - with a public beta test scheduled for 2008 - features a revamped graphics engine and is set hundreds of years after Prophecies and Eye of the North. Mention is additionally made of zone-wide events likened to World of Warcraft's Battlegrounds.

It's going to be an actual Add-on, so not a stand alone game.
'Guild Wars 2' is going to be a lot bigger than the first, an actual MMO in that form with a lot better graphic engine

They're rumours, dont flame me if they're wrong.

Personally I dont like the idea of Guild Wars been concluded...I just feel it sould be left almost open story wise so something new could still happen.
As for GW2, is that a roumer? Because I've been hearing alot of people mentioning it recently.

I can believe it... But after all, the sequel is coming it in 2009-10, and Eye of the North is coming out this year... Just so people who didn't carefully read aren't confused and think that the sequel is coming out this year...

I don't see why they wouldn't upgrade the game engine. After all, there will be even bigger battles and more stuff in the game, so they would probably want a new engine. And it isn't like people will need extremely good computers to run it. If the GW they have now have low requirements, don't you think the next engine might have normal requirements by today's standards?

I believe the part of Eye of the north...

the guild Wars 2 part is a bit too shady for me, ill wait till the official report gets out before I believe that, but beta in 2008, release in 2009/2010 is believable imo

And Gw really needs a closed ending of Prophecies, they didnt have that yet, especially the Charr part (Wich is what Eye of the North stands for; Ascalon and the Charr conflict)

I forgot in which interview, I think it was the one in the special collector's edition of Nightfall, yeah I bought it), the developer/producer insist on their belief of releasing a expansion or new chapter on a 6month basis. The interview was only held a few months back, don't think they will make any changes so soon.

Well I like the eye of the north idea... Do I believe it 100%? No. But it would be nice. Also if what is of Guild Wars 2 true they better not do something stupid like make it Pay to Play or something.

Looks like it, and im definetly looking forward to it.. I wanted to kick some high lvled Charr ***, but they were only low lvled

I also hope they will add missions with only 4 lvl 20 people, make it easier as a lvl 8 mission but make it so that it requires actual strategy and tactics.

We ran from Temple of the Ages. XD
Needless to say we annihilated it, but the run was like an hour long.
