What is the best RTS ever?
I played Warcraft and Starcraft.

AoE series(best mayb),WC3:TFT, SC:BW, The Settlers series(there're sorta ok), and i think many more older ones that i use to play but dont remember the names >_>

I have AoE3 , i don't play...

I didnt buy it anyway ^^

Blizzard makes the best RTS but they stopped..

cuz they made WoW... :( so they real busy ...

Warcraft III TFT was prob going to get more races (illidans stuff since they already sort of made them) but...WOW....

What Trisomy said is confusing, Dawn of War is out. So is the expansion and 2 other RTS warhammer games ("warhammer isnt coming out for a while but i hear its gonna be good.") The Dawn of War series is very fun! The storyline is fun to follow, normal skirmishes are fun, and the online gameplay is great if you know what you're doing (not particularly newbie friendly) - although getting some friends to buy it too is a good idea, me and some of my friends had tonnes of fun on this... PLUS I don't even like Warhammer - so it shows the quality of the game.

generals is even newer, and tiberium wars is like, either very recently released, or will be released soon.

oh shit, i forgot to add RA2 to my list! i have the game ever since it came out and i play it with blackmissle mod :p well RA1 was good but it wasnt fast pace enough...i love fast pace rts :D

Warhammer40k Dawn of War (ESPECIALLy since the new patch is out, which many fans were waiting for), Company of Heroes, Homeworld, and Command and Conquer Red Alert 2. Those are my favorite RTS. If I had to pick the best one, I'd say Company of Heroes. The game is amazing from the details, to the gameplay. Nothing like having Havoc engine (same physics engine in HL2), tons of Explosions, and Ragdoll physics.

If you want an intelligent RTS:

Age of Empires: Huge depth and history in the campaigns. I liked like the way everything was made fairly even(thought AOE3 basically just destroyed the series, it was horrible).

Good sci-fi rts huge depth in story

AoE very good my first rts loved it loads played it too much actuly

Warhammer 40k Dark crusade is the best RTS iv played in a long long long time. And like the poster before me said i didn't even like the Warhammer franchise at all (was totally gay dude).

C&C3 looks ok played the demo and all seemed good. I guess a close 2nd would be Zero hour loved that game and still play it often.

I wish Blizzard continue make great RTS.

I do believe a game called warhammer 4000 is coming out. and at the same time there is another warhammer game already out. So they are two dfferent games sorry for confusion.

Yeh I know :p But the Warhammer 40k game coming out soon is an mmorpg. This guy is asking for RTS games.

There's also a Warhammer fantasy?... I don't know, but that Warhammer with the elves and fairies and crap has an RTS called Mark of Chaos, I think.

I'm guessing that as it's made by the same company it's worth a look.

Starcraft and Warcraft (duh)
Dune series (only played Dune 2k and Emperor: Battle for Dune)

You guys missed out Savage : Battle of Newth'

Basically its a RTS and action FPS game where 2 player will get to become commander, commander has a top down RTS-like view and they can select players (FPS view) and tell them to mine a gold mine etc, If they fail to/do not comprehend to the commander, they lose loyalty points, so its like if the commander select you, (you move with wasd, attack with mouse) a star or arrow will appear on your head, (that is visualizable by you since you control in a 3rd person kind of view), so the commander will than use his mouse and ask you to move here/attack here/build here/mine here.. etc etc.

did anybode mentioned C&C: generals...well i liked it for a few weeks and ofcourse warcraft3 made me gettin addictedXD
but no fear there will be a new warcraft around in a few years since their workin on a diablo or smt like that

The whole Warcraft series in General, with Warcraft 2 being top.

Warcraft 3 was never a pure RTS game i mean its campaign was basically rpg. It may have been fun but look at the unit scales and 2 abundant resources?

Dawn of War is awesome as well but I prefer the fast-paced action of C&C ZH more, hehe (w00t for C&C 3). Same goes for CoH

Dude, if you can get Total Annihilation somehow, get it. I thought it was way better then Supreme Commander, which was based on Total Annihilation.

DoW is just amazing. Online play is pretty crazy too.

Back in old days i was a great player and master stratagist for my clan [CHAOS] but alas the days are over...
Dawn of war will never be the same :(

Dawn Of War > All, hands down in my opinion. It's just amazing game with all the tactics you need etc. If you haven't tried, I truly hope you will.

company of heroes, command and conquer and warhammer dawn of war are pretty much the best ones available at the moment. Really fun to play.

Warcraft 3 TFT FTW! Too bad Blizzard doesn't really care about it anymore and is focusing on WoW. I like playing custom maps on it best, like dota. The C&C games are ok but I have never played tiberium wars.
