Battlefield 2142 or battlefield 2 Deluxe(Battlefield 2 + Spec Ops Xpack)?

EDIT:Which one of them has the best planning & tactic to it?I saw the spec ops videos and it really looked so freaking sweet,I love graples.A dude just threw a grapler on the roof and climbed all way up!

I played BF2142 demo and i think BF2 is better.

True, both games differ greatly (with the same core concepts)

BF2: Your class items are pretty much fixed, but you have 6 different classes. You can unluck other weapons for the class, but that's it.

BF2142: 4 classes, but through ranking up, you get to unluck many (and I mean many) different gadgets and guns. Not to mention, Titan mode. It's pretty fun to just position the titan above an enemy strong hold and just continually do raids. (also, only 2 types of air based vehicles for each team)


But, from what I've heard, there are many people who still like BF2 much more. Probably because the game play is slightly more straight forward, that and because the equipment is modern, it is also predictable.

bf2142 has more stuff to onlock thus more work to do but more rewaring, plus it has giant robots. Bf2 you have most of the gagets you would have to unlock in 2142 but simplified. No giant robots in bf but theres aircraftcarriers and boats. IN a nutshell, bf2 has a wider selection of viechles but 2142 has more work to unlock stuff which could be fun, you have more of a reason to play. You can only unlock weapons in bf2.

The unlock feature is actually very cool, and over all, I think BF2142 might be a better choice in terms of gameplay, mainly because of the whole unlock thing.

However, it's not as pretty as BF2, if you ask me, lol

BF2 has much more mods and maps out, like Project Reality (really awesome realism mod).

Though I prefer Battlefield 2142, the big emphasis is on infantry over vehicles. Most of the maps are made this way, with maybe vehicles like 1 Battlewalker, 1 Tank, 1 APC, and 1 FAV. Air combat isn;t as big as say in BF2, but I actually like the ground based firefight. There are tons of unlocks, and you can customize your class to whatever situation arises. You can get stuff like EMP grenades that messes up anyone's HUD in the area (you see cool graphical glitches), or you can deploy turrets, or as squad leaders you can deploy beacons that can help other members of your squad to "drop" into the specific parts battlefield quicker.

Titans is the main draw of the BF2142 game, greatly differentiating itself from BF2. Besides that, its the same as BF2. Battlefield2142 is running off a modified BF2 engine thats been modernized a bit more, including some newer graphical features like blooming. Obviously the BF engine isn't greatly optimized (I'm not joking, go look at people complaining about the BF2 engine), so BF2142 seems to run worse than BF2 for people.

Well the main problem with the BF2142 demo is the fact that it doesn't really show the true nature of the game. The BF2 demo is actually really good.

I like both the games a lot, but I'd have to say I'd lean towards BF2142 because the ranking system and getting new gear for your character is kind of addicting.

Id prefer BF 2142 because of the low FPS rate... sence i have a crappy intergrated GFX card my battlefield 2 runs like crap (its so freakin blocky i cant tell a sniper from a bush at far range)... and in BF2 people who are really good at flying climb up the ranks WAY faster than other people (seriously , its almost impossable to shoot down a good jet pilot XD ) but in BF2142, for one, the jets are WAYYY easier to fly than a jet (i crash alot XD ) and you can acctuly shoot down someone in a helo-jet :D

I have 1GB i run fine but kinda weird when i aim etc.

but fps aint bad. i cant play on all high cuz my RAM is weak

I run both on high graphics at 30 FPS with a X1600 PRO 512MB,P4 3.2GhZ and 1 GB of RAM.

I only playied the demos of both versions but i'm SO addicted on the B2142 demo.It's what i play,nowadays.
Remenber that harsh time of flying jets or choppers and people complained because you crashed?You don't find this in BF2142.Even i can fly a hovercraft!
Squads,i'd say BF2 wins here.Squads in 2142 are nearly unexisting on the demo,atleast.But when there is one,it's GOOD!You follow your leader and get in a UMD and raid bases.
Artillery strikes suck on 2142,i don't see anyone get killed...EVER!Much differ from BF2.
Community is more matured on 2142 but anyone hardly talks since it's non stop action.You'll find lots of kiddies on BF2,which kill you because of that special vehicle.

lol the unlockable sniper SUCKS... the scope doent fill the screen so u cant spot easly, the scope is red tinted so its hard to see XD , and... IT ONLY HOLDS 3 GOD DAMNED BULLETS IN EACH CLIP, upsides? kill light armored people in one shot, can detonate APM mines and RDX packs, but thats just it.

Yea its true that Atry in BF 2142 sucks, but it kills Walkers and APCs easy... and it has a HUGE ratius compaired to BF2... and trust me: the real game is WAY harder than the demo... u know how u get into a walker in the demo ur basicly invincible? well in real thing, u get killed SO FREAKIN EASLY XD like a big walking target. Oh and Snipers are EVERYWHERE in the full verson (lots of them use lambert carbines and cloaking device)

Squads are very tactical on 2142.

Altough,the commander tactical screen rocks.Real time 3D view of the battle on the safety of your base,then you can bombard places from there.

Squads= get into one if you dun wanna get team swapped XD . Anyways they own because get 10 squad help points and u get a field upgrade (get a unlock from 1 tree and keep it untill u leave the sever, you can only get one unlock from each tree) plus there are squad leader stuff like the spawn becon, the sentry drone, and the scout drone.

The commanders screen is SO FREAKIN COOL because its a top down view of the real time battlefield if you zoom it all the way... lets you see EVERYTHING thats not under a roof or something. but u gotta move the cam which takes quite a while.

I like 1942 better than both, modern fps's just don't do it for me and I hated the 2142 demo.

BF2142 seems to be more infantry orientated, and I honestly like it that way. Most of the vehicles are seen on Titan mode anyways.

The demo does NOT do justice for 2142...none what so ever. Really, the demo is only a former shell of what 2142 really is. Squads are very important in the main game, because of the whole sqaud beacon function. As sqaud leader, you have an unlock available to you that allows you to set up a spawn point for your fellow squad mates. This means that if one guy can get past enemy lines and set up a beacon, the rest of the squad can then spawn in, and start attacking the opposing team from the back, while the others focus their attention towards the front.

The game surprisingly enough requires alot of strategy, but that doesn't mean twitch-based gameplay isn't involved. You're going to need to keep on your toes each and every second, mainly because most of the maps on Conquest mode are now narrowed in more, instead of the huge sprawling maps that exist in BF2(even though those are still rather cool).

I, for one, am happy that 2142 isn't as vehicle based as before. They're a nice addition, but once you've gotten killed by a tank for simply grazing it when you are driving, it's get sort of old.

However, I will agree with this. The hitboxes in 2142 are a bit iffy at times. There are times in 2142 where it will feel like in order to survive, you need to start firing first. Whoever unloads their entire clip on someone first, wins. That is a huge difference from BF2, because in BF2, you can jump and hop around like an idiot as much as you want. It could be considered an improvement, or just a curse.

So, all in all, here are the pros and cons of each game...

BF2
Pros-
1) Alot of vehicles to choose from
2) Hit boxes are done very well(in my opinion)
3) The game is so fun that you probably won't be able to stop playing the demo until you get the game.

Cons-
1) There aren't many unlocks.
2) There are some major balance issues with some weapons*COUGH*SNIPERMINES*COUGH*
3) Hard to find a fire fight if you're into infantry combat

BF2142
Pros-
1) Good amount of unlocks, and it's not very hard to get them
2) Maps' size allow for a good balance between infantry and vehicular combat
3) While there are still balance issues within the game, most weapons are pretty much equal, and it depends on the skill of the player more.

Cons-
1) Hitboxes are extremely iffy at times. Sometimes, all it boils down to is "SHOOT HIM FASTER".
2) Vehicles are somewhat invicible if you don't have ANY kind of explosive.
3) While the unlock system is done very well, some of the unlocks are just retarded(I say this because I think it's stupid that we have to unlock a revive item as Assault. Why can't we just have it right then and there?)

anyways yea ur screwed if someone has a tank and ur assalt XD but most of them have weakpoints

Battlewalkers=vents on the bottom, shoot it with anything and u can damage it, shoot it with a rocket and blow it up in 1 hit

Tanks=Backside,Backside,and backside... cant damage them at unless u have a rocket or a mounted railgun, shoot it in the backside is a one hit or close

FAV=shoot the driver, done

APC=shoot shoot and aim for backside

Helojets=get into AA cannon, emp then shoot down

Speeder=shoot the guy from the side, he dies and u can jack his speeder

Goliath=no weak points, shoot the repair points an hope ur team can mob it with rockets

if u want more veicles get Northern Strike, in the map Bridge of Randaban or something..., there spawns 4 battlewalkers, 2 APCs, TONs of speeders, 1 goliath, and one transport

i have bf2 and 2142 and i have to say that 2142 was a lot of fun and i was a clan leader for it and my team played in tournaments, but it got boring after a month or two... probably because of overplay..

for bf2 on the other hand, it has a longer lasting appeal, because of the great weapons and maps and vehicle's. another thing that makes bf2 better is all the great mods that have been made.

With automatic guns,hit boxes don't exist.

But with sniper...I once was shot by the first sniper,no not the unlockable one, on the head/neck area and died instantly.I had a full hp bar.

Get hit in the head with ANY sniperrifle=Death XD . Beleve me, i got TONS of infiltartor pins :D . I quit battlefield 2 cuz i really sucked at it, the sniper rifles hat a HUGE bullet drop, cant kill crap with the SMGs, Tanks are almost unkillable, even with a rocket, and NO DOG TAG COLLECTING :( . thats one of the features that i love the most. i got over 150 dogtags already XD . in battlefield 2 i got stuck at coporal XD had another 400 points or so to go. in BF 2142, u get 1000 for getting gold, 1000=promotion, and NS awards give u an extra unlock point, no exp tho...

What's bugging me is how macros are starting to show up EVERYWHERE now for 2142. Ever notice how that one guy tossed a grenade and in less than a second was shooting you before the grenade got away?

READ IT MORE CAREFULY... tell me what u were fighting, AND if u had like a guided rocket (EU's Micheile AV and PAC Sudnik AV) or that unlockable one, if u were useing the SAAW AA rocket then ur just plain stupid >_> . oh and the vents are UNDER the battlewalker not on the sides -_-

Trying to hit a vehicle with a regular weapon is just useless, and using a rocket in a huge map like Suez Canal is just mandatory in some cases. And obviously, some of you didn't get my explanation.

Ofcourse a shot to the head is going to kill you. Each hitbox has a certain size and a certain damage ratio that is calculated once a certain weapon is used to certainly...kill you.

And I have no idea what you mean, Darc. It's even WORSE when you try to spray weapons in BF2142. There are only some instances when that actually works out, like for instance, if you're standing right next to the target.

Yes, the sniper is rather easy to use, but you have to pick and choose which maps to use it on. For instance, Camp Gibraltar is really just a horrible map. I felt in BF2 that sure, it was harder to use, but atleast I was able to keep a good distance between myself and the enemy, so if I missed, I still had a ton of tries left.

But that's just my opinion.

I was a sniper in BF2, Had a barret and NEVER OR RARLY hit the target >_> , i only saw a block even when zoomed -_- . At least in BF 2142 you get a x4 scope zoom and when you aim, u acctuly hit.

Camp has several good places to snipe, the crane infront of harbor for one, all over central camp on the second floor, and the watch towers.

Bypassing that hitbox thing=use a rocket launcher to shoot infantry XD , kills them in one hit even if u miss by a little, they also cant be reived, trust me, i pwn sniping with the michile AV :p .

Desert combat was one of the best mods for BF 1942, i liked the skins and they made a compleatly new viec=HELES :D they were crap to control but they pwned

Yes, both demos are online. There are actually quite alot of servers out for it already.
