Anyone noticed the genre is coming back?
as i personal fan of the genre, that's a nice progression.
I'm talking about Titan Quest Immortal Throne, 2 Worlds, Hellgate London, Sacred 2, Loki, Silverfall.

If you are also a D2 fan, be sure to check out Loki, it will be released in june in Europe.

here is the official trailer, looks promising. In contrary to Silverfall, the UI actually looks nice ... Dont know how many of you played Silverfall before, but the UI is really horrible to look at ...

Glad to have read this little tid bit

Closed mode : On-line hero(ine)s, used in multiplayer games, can be saved on the Cyanide GameCenter meaning that a network character can be guaranteed not to have been modified locally and then uploaded to the server. This enables "honest" combats for the greater pleasure of all concerned.

Loki is looking good to me already.

And yea the genre seems to be coming back which it should; I myself and others are simply getting sick of these mmo level grinders; hack 'n' slash is just pure fun.

Titan quest is the diablo 3 we never got. I love Titan quest and the expansion. I just wish the engine used to make it wasent horriable flawed the rubberbanding and the wierd fps drops out of nowhere. but those are not common and can be easly overlooked, at least for me they can.

I tried to play Silver fall but it lagged a shit load on my computer constant stuttering when exploring new areas on the demo version so i never got the game. Loki looks pretty awesome doubt ill be able to run it on my pc tho looks like a quality SM 3.0 game.

About Titan Quest, i agree. I also have both TQ and IT. My system is beyond the recommended specs, i have a solid framerate most of the time but then i have moment on which the games starts lagging incredibly bad and stuttering.
It is a nice engine to look at, but it flaws terribly at performance.

I have Silverfall myself, it's the same story here francly. The game stutters a LOT, even on medium settings. This is not because the game is so demanding, but again, due to bad coding.

About Loki, you should check the forums, i remember there was a thread or 2 about system specs. Altogether, those given weren't exactly high. Also, i don't think Loki will be using SM3.0
Although, i say, i THINK. But if they would, i'm sure there will be an option to play with previous shader levels, like most games do.
I just hope Loki will be an exception to the bad engine coding in this genre.

But i had figured as much from the beginning, diablo was known for it's mindless killing and the screen filled with enemies and intense action all together. Trying to remake such a concept with a next generation engine would of course end up in us needing a more-than-standard-pc to run these things in high detail.
Taken Titan Quest, it sucks to have these issues, but it barely kills the fun of the game.

I also mean to remember that Loki will have a sort of beta version before being released. Since the release for europe is june, that beta can't be far off now

i don't know, i gained intrest with loki while playing silverfall :)
I'm not saying silverfall is a bad game, it's a very good one but it it's a little too buggy for its own good. and god, what an ugly interface Silverfall has :)

dungeon siege I and II are idd also one of the most famous diablo 'sequels' known. In fact, Dungeon Siege was a reactie of Microsoft game studios on Blizzard.

But i personally find titan quest to be the most resembling game around.
The artifacts, the playstyle, the feeling, some litterly copied scenes out of diablo 2 such as the second act, where you have to find 'the tomb of amon ra' in the Valley of Kings, it doens't get more obvious than that.

The Term idd(Indeed) Isn't Used by alot English speaking people. Whilst in Dutch It's Used Frequently. Also you used the verb reactie , Which is Dutch :p So I guessed you are Dutch :p.

Also Are There Any Other DII Kind Of Games Coming out soon?(not Silverfall)

it happens a lot that i use dutch words without knowing it. But still, are belgians so typical by the use of "idd"?. i hear that a lot by other people too, like french, portugese and so on. odd though.

nevertheless, i'm not really aware of more games except the ones i mentioned in the strating thread. There might be others, but i haven't come across them yet

nevertheless. The best drops still come from Typhon imo. Hades was also kind of a let down :) he's too easy
