Can I just say this is totally awesome, fantastic, wonderful and great?

Because everything I've read sounds very cool and sounds like Anet has been listening very closely to their fan base.

You can't transfer characters, but there will be a hall of accomplishments (or some such) to bring over the great achievements of your old characters. This will bring benefits / status to to the new characters. There's no reason to stop going for titles or stop playing now. You'll get cool props in the new game for what you do here. This is a great compromise between a fresh start and a connection to the past. GG Anet!

There will be a much higher level cap in GW2. Oh my gosh, this is cool. Now every time I play, my character can improve in some way - and not just the cosmetics. Repeated PVE will be much more enjoyable and the game will have a lot more life. While I respect people that go for the drunkard's title, explorers, etc., to me THAT is the pointless grind. Now my pve playing can always have a purpose.

PVP is still balanced! Woot. No matter how much a player puts into the game, the competitive PVP games will be exquisitely balanced. If you're a die-hard PVP'er, which I am not, no griding is required whatsoever. All skills are available for all characters at the highest level with all max armor and weapons. You NEVER have to feel you have to do anything to be competitive - other than compete. This should be a PVP'ers dream.

A wider world. I really look forward to the technology behind this, but who hasn't felt lonely out there in your little instance with all heroes and henches? I'm sure those choices will still be there, but now truly random and cool things will happen in the wilds. Massive group raids against dragons? Very nice.

No monthly FEE! If they can really pull this off, this is too cool for words. To give us a deeper, continually evolving pve experience and a no-grind, balanced pvp alternative for NO EXTRA MONEY each month is just too good for words. I'm sure there will be expansions to keep the revenue flowing in, and people will pay it if the content is there. I know I will.

If I had to design my perfect GW 2 game, this is pretty close to what I would have done. Thank you Anet/Cinderboy

It's cool, I probably should have gave it a better topic title, but oh well.
I'd have to say my favorite part;

1) The article emphasizes, over and over again (to the point of absurdity!), that there will be no monthly fee, or hidden fees. They even talk about how no one believes them when they say it! There will *not* be a monthly fee for GW2.

:D

ZOMG! I can't wait for EotN and GW2!!! It is a good thing GW2 doesn't come out for a while, because I still need to start playing GW! I don't own it yet, but I want it. I can't wait to play it! That is so awesome about the transferring status junk from normal GW to GW2 to make your character have a better status or something cool like that. I can't wait!!! I WANT TO PLAY GW SO BADLY NOW! I wanted it extremely badly before, but now I want it even more!!!! XD I wish I could just express my feelings right now, but that would be like a quintillion !'s...... So I won't do that...

What is the release date on this.

EotN - Holiday 2007
GW2 - TBA, beta testing in 2008 sometime.

But we know how ANet works with schedules, so I would set back those dates a month or so back.

there are some problems with this announcement....

first off.. GWEN won't have an opportunity to advance past lvl 20, as that would chagne the entire game. The reason for creating GW2 is the things they designers wanted to implement would call for an entire overhaul. Lvl 20 will remain the same.

GWEN will contain a Hall of ahcievements or w/e that allows your to gather titles for your characters n GW2. it is a true xpack, no classes, new armour weapons, and quests. It's meant as a bridging campaign between GW and GW2.

ANet is considering a lvl cap of 100+, if any at all. they are actually thinking of having no level cap at all, to reward players for time spent on a character. Think of how strong my Paragon will be then!

As announced through PCGamer, Eye's of the North and GW2 will be featureing characters long forgoten from the Prophecies story line that will make you go "I remember him/her!"

I especially loved the little hint PCGamer gave about an adult version of a child you may all know and remember from Prophecies. My theory (hint) is that she is one child whose quest reward lead nowhere but a broken flute.

I can't wait!! I can't wait!! I can't wait!! I can't wait!! I CAN'T WAIT!!!!!!

Actually, in the PCGamer article, they mentioned they would still be using the GW engine, just heavily modified.

I got her cape in storage. Not the one you get at the merchant in pre-sear either. Its the one she gives you after you give her something.

And about the engine in use with GW2. Yes it will be the same engine, but tweaked. I know that it will require a card with shader 2.0 or greater to run it. But eh, still be nice.

Another note from the article:

The team was asked if it would still be able to run on laptops. The answer, though, was that they would try, seeing as how they heavily develop on laptops in the first place.

wait, so GW2 will be like most other MMO's with a free open world and still have the missions? kinda like the wow world, but guildwars style ?

From what I've heared its going to be the same as GW, everything besides towns are instanced

BUT: There will also be World PVP, so it'll probably be an option between regular GW and world PVP

I just hope it doesn't attract too many WoW-griefers, I don't want the GW community turning into the "cry more and l2p n00b" forum community we all know and love.

Yes, they confirmed they are increasing the level cap, but it has yet to be reveled how much higher the level cap will be.

On a side note: one of the reasons they can keep the game as Buy to Play is the fact that it is instanced. Rather than pating for huge massive servers that keep up with thousands of players, they can spend money on many cheap servers that mearly kep track of players in town, split the people into the parties, and save on bandwidth as their is no more than 10 people in a pve party max. Thus the packets decrease from huge to tiny, and thus very cheap.

Well get out of this thread if you don't understand, and freaking stick to the topic instead of posying useless stuff. Who cares about your insomnia ?
