yah I just bought counter strike anthology but during some points on multiplayer I experience somewhat of a medium lag coming from my comp. I am wondering though is there a way to reduce this lag without having to buy anything you know like click here click there and its fixed thanks

my comp specs are

512 ram
256 ddr video card
windows xp

Your system should run it fine.

Try playing on a less populated server, close any background programs and make sure you have updated it with the latest patches.

My guess is the server, choose one that doesn't have too many players on.

I guess that helps but im one of those people that wants the full feeling of it :/

You shouldn't have to retype it, and yea it should tweak your settings to give you less lag and better kills =].

should it keep getting faster and faster if i were to type rate 50000 and so on?

Rates are different for everyone. It depends on your connection, if you're on cable 15000-25000 should work. Google CS 1.6 Tweaks, setting your rate too high or low will cause choke.

if anyone knows what hes talking about with the console and therate and updater thing and all that could u tell me what the LOWEST POSSIBLE settings i could set my comp to. please dont ask why just answer me and id graciously appreciate it :)

1. you never really posted your processor and the ability of your graphics card

2. when ya play CS go check out the options or whatever and change the video settings if required

3. can ya make it clear if we are talking about connection or your fps (frames per second, for those that dont know)

fps max default is set on 60..... if ya play around with it for your whole computer not knowing, then theres a chance you may damage your computer lol

so basicly go experiment with the graphic settings in-game

play at 800x600 resolution.

turn Vsync off.

AA and AF off.

what kind of lag is it?? high ping? or ..

as i said before its mycomputer lag like in a closed space it doesnt lag but in a huge room it lags. hope that helps with specifing. right now i am at school so i wont have a chance to check it out until i get home.


then um what is AA and AF and were can i go to turn them off options?
and whats Vsync and where can i go to turn that off


also do you guys think i should buy a mike. I dont have one so I am wondering is it really neccasary to buy one?:

uh console u press the ~ button, depends on how far ur fps can push it to mine is constantly on 60 so i just leave it at max72, ex_interp 0.01 is ment to help u aim better dunno if its true though i notice wen i change my ex_interp i get more or less jerky
