I don't think people will ever understand that these are basically 2 different games.
If you liked the style of WoW, as in the combat, open-worldness, etc. then no, you probably shouldn't switch.
If you're looking for something different, that requires more skill and has way better PvP, then you probably should switch.

Guild wars has a lot more skill involved in it from the start. I think Guild Wars completes WoW, but I'll let you decide. It's majorly fun and the PvP Is intense!

I just recently went back to GW. I have to admit, if you want the control of the game in your hands and not be at the mercy of "twinkers", AH pricing, and crafters who think their crafts are worht a king's ransom, then it what you want.
WoW combat is 80% gear and 20% skill.
GW combat is 70% skill and 30% character build.
Notice gear is not really an equation in GW. As long as you keep up to date with your gear, you dont need to worry about "twinking" to get the quest done or be good in PvP.
Yes, GW is short lived, since the max level is 20, but so what? With my return to GW, I thought I would hate the lvl 20 max. TBH, its not bothering me much anymore than what it did in the past. I have all three from the franchise and I am finding Nightfall and Factions to be very much fun.
My brother, a long time friend of mine, and I play it, and we been having quite a bit of fun. We got a guild, but its only the 3 of us (for now). And we enjoy its gameplay and its graphics much more than WoW.
Yes, PvP can be sometimes a pain, but thats the same for any MMOG that has PvP. But its has a lot more fun than WoW's PvP.
Later I plan on getting the expansion when its released, and then GW2. So far, it the only RPG, I seems to come back to and stick with.
If you decide to play it, you can find me in game almost daily, but at sporatic times.
IGN: Zenous Zi, lvl 18 pure nuker with pet (Pyro E/R). Looking for a Pheonix to tame..... Factions
Grym Grave, lvl 13 Warrior Monk (bleeding mender's build)...... Nightfall
Daemon of Khorne, lvl 10 Warrior Necromancer (bleed master)....... Prophecies
If I am not in game, I am either eating, sleeping, working, or in DDo...........
I do plan on recruiting for my guild, but at a later date. Guild name: House of Grave (Doa)

I've seen alot of cyber7chink's posts and I hate his gut to the core, but I have to say, I do agree 100% with him on this one. I love GW because it's not based on lvl or gears. Once u get hang of which skills to use, it all depends on how well u play ur build. And if u r pve kind, there r plenty of things to do: titles, quests, faction, and etc.

This probobly doesnt help but here http://youtube.com/watch?v=YcWXL8jpFGs wow vs gw video.
i have truly never played WoW but i have friends who say its pretty awesome and others who say it sucks ***. i think thats cool that it has soo many lvls but it does not matter to me because guildwars has alot to do with skill and thought rather than buying max armor and weapons. you can have the best armor weapons and shields and still be beaten by someone with actual skill. People who play WoW say GW cant be hard because you can only have 8 skills out. I say their dead wrong. what is their to do after lvl 70 in WoW??? i know that in Guildwars their is their is roughly 750 skills with around 250 elites. Getting new elites trying new builds out is always fun. im sure their is farming in WoW but i can only guess that you can not run people from one town/city to another. seeing how thier is no portals.
I have seen friends play WoW and i have noticed the graphics are low-poly (weaksauce graphics)
And that Guild Wars has high-poly relatively nice graphics.
Unlike Gw WoW has many diferent types of charectors to choose from. But you can only be one profesion so your self healing is very limited unlike in Gw wer u can have 2 profesions like the Warrior/Monk so that you can tank well against a number of opponents and even Warrior/Ranger for their healing skills which have a low energy cost and the warriors healing which cost 0 energy.
Is it like you have to be with a paladin or whatever if u plan on staying alive? well thats all i have. i think Gw is realy worth it.
Storyline is amazing havent heard anything about WoWs though

ok man. here it is. You should definitely switch to guild wars. No question. I think there is only ONE thing that WoW has on GW and that is the survival skills(such as mining, crafting, skinning, fishing, leatherworking, etc.) But GW has way better graphics and uses WAY more skilll than any other game i have played. The gamplay is awesome, and the customizable interface is the way to go. The PvP is also the best in gaming.
One more thing. After you beat GW, you can replay every mission and quest on hard mode. GW is just so expansive and beautiful you just gotta switch.
For any of you Guild Wars players, Look me up. I have a few characters on GW, but my main account is Sir Artinox He is a level 20 warrior/elementalist. My guild is the Dark Dragunz. Hope to see you in game.

I'm just geting back into GW I have all 3 gonna get EN later on, Starting completly fresh with the first one gonna got through the whole story then switch to faction, then Nightfall lol then ill get EN.
I play'd WoW till 70 and after that theres nothing realy... the PvP sucks and it gets boring to keep doing the same instances over and over...
Now I haven't play'd GW all that much so i'm not sure but I hear its PvP is great.

I do enjoy PvP, but of course most people start off in Random Arenas; It's hard to party with decent PvP'ers without a rank. Unless your in a decent guild, of course.

GW is a really good game despite the fact that's only Lv. 20 max. Most people thinks it's a bad game because of such a low level cap. However, it's really interesting when you start PvPing, GvGing, etc. Give it a shot, you might like it after all :)

Thats if you run half assed 123456 kill or you lose builds.
Try next time playing on real class/build that requires brains?

Exactly. He's probably a sin :D. Rangers and Mesmers require more skill than any other class imo. Interrupting takes a good amount of skill. You don't want to interrupt just any skill. You have to analyze the build, figure out what skill(s) actually make the build work, and then you have to try and interrupt it, which is not an easy thing.

Exactly. He's probably a sin :D.
There are good sins though. I'm talking about the kind that instead of trying to kill someone by himself, he supports the killing with the rest of the team. They also can set some good pressure to the Monk, so if the rest of the team is focusing on the Monk, while the sin is getting rid of the Mesmer/Necromancer/etc, the Monk will eventually have to let someone die (he'll most likely going to save himself instead of the party member)
But well, most of the time this requieres a good team, which you don't see very often in RA :-/
lol you guys r ****ing wow noobs, wow Starts after lvl 70. before that its shit and boring

In GW you definetely have to get good at your selection of skills otherwise you wont survive, it really isn't about your armor or your level, itīs all about choosing your skills wisely,
The first time I played I chose an fire ele and it was pretty fun, though the first couple of days I almost cried since I died everytime I stuck my nose out of town, but I kept trying and got better and better and it's just amazing
I definetely vote for GW:)

I've played both.
I haven't gotten to 20 as of yet in GW,as I don't really play it much, but I'm pretty close. So I don't know what the PvP is like as well as everyone else, though I have had a small taste of it. I do enjoy the game play, and the fact that I don't have to pay monthly fees.
I have reached 70 in WoW. I don't like how the gear makes up so much of how you play. Any time I want to go through a raid or do something, it's like "PST stats, gear" and I'm like... I just reached 70 not too long ago... don't have leet gear like you. So it's crap. However, I do like the lore in WoW as opposed to GW.
But really, there are plus sides to either game. Yes, the graphics in GW are definitely better than WoW, but WoW isn't supposed to look "real;" it's more like a comic, a cartoon, something like that. And besides, that will be fixed in Wrath. But why base your choice on whether the graphics are better or not?
I personally like how the updates for GW are in-game. No waiting for a full-content patch.
Anyway. Really what it all boils down to is what game fits your style.

Another intelligent post by a noob...NOT!
GW is a great buy if ya ask me...You buy the game, and theres no monthly payments. The story line is epic win..You actually feel like you are part of the world in which you play in.

Mmkay, You posted this in the guild wars section so obviously this is going to be quite bias, but speaking for experience of both games (I played GW Before all the expansions so :\) I thought WoW Had more to offer, the level cap in GW is 20 for christs sake, and after that it isn't really exciting other than PvP (Again this is MY experience)
WoW is more team based, and much more fun gaining levels and gear, along with professions and etc.

There is a very simple difference between WoW and Guild Wars. Although some people favor some aspects over the other in the different games I consider them to be equal in quality.
WoW has a huge amount of updates, I mean really really huge (you'd have to play guild wars for a few days to understand just how many) and guild wars only has a few updates, some of them horrible skill changes spread out over weeks or months. In other words, you play WoW because the plotline is always changing and there are always new plots to play. You play guild wars because you want to complete the game, then move onto another campaign, help your friends out with their quests, or move into PvP and start mass-murdering people.
WoW is very very cheap upfront...but over time, their monthly fees can cost you more in a few years then it would cost you for internet (true in my case, very good and very cheap internet. They cut the price :D). True that if you collect a bunch of the free trial cards and get a whole buncha days free you could get by, but it'd include either making a lotta MMO-type friends, or subscribing to a lot of MMO magazines (also expensive in the long run). Guild Wars, for the entire set, costs around $100 dollars and you can play it forever. If I played WoW for as long as I've played guild wars I'd probably have spent around 3-4 times that much.
I guess you could say the two cancel out, on one end you get quality updates with more expense, on the other end you get lame updates but cheaper in the long run (and it's a pretty solid game too, it catches your attention and you actually want to finish it and keep playing to see how many other combinations you can do.)
That's my 2 cents...well more like 500 dollars but you get the idea xD

Okay a few corrections on above post
like this lil one "WoW is more team based, and much more fun gaining levels and gear, along with professions and etc."
Guild wars is less team based then WoW.... try doing any level 20 quests alone or with those dip shit AI healers that go hey guyz I can tank! *1 second later dies and hope you rolled monk or have a hero AI the non brain dead AI*
Also again for above post... level 20 is max but you try unlocking 1000+ skills +500 item stuff, and Green items at the same time with 8 of your friends it takes to usually get your char at level 70 with all the epic gear (unless where talking about that rare illidian gear might equal up unless you roll 100's every freaken time a purple or orange pops up
They kinda did PVP right... 5 level difference in GW might make it harder then normal but possible... WoW even two levels can give you a advantage
Lastly... "Plot" the only time "Plot" is forced on to you is on RP servers and im guessing the highest pop server aint RP server, and lowest might be RP (dont get me wrong i wish their was more people on RP servers to make the game a actual MMO"RP"G, because well PVP is well gank fest... unless your role playing to be a complete douche bag with leet speak and gank all the time... (again just sayying vast majority for some reason level 70's seem to enjoy picking on level 25's because well it makes them feel big) Oh yeah one major flaw in "RP" though is how did most the races go oh lets forget all the enemy teams languages because spying on them easily is completely stupid. (I can understand some races but BE where with the freaken Humans till Frozen throne oh im not sayying guild wars does it any better though yes their is the cinimatics which are nice... but you get *****ed at for not pressing skip so just say you did when you didn't
I say both these games are good WoW as in More people. "Larger" Teams, More chaotic battles (which isnt bad... it's just well not so much strategy I find more spam skills that are more powerful then others, though Horrible AI controls.... I just hate having a pet or summon)
Guild wars: Isnt dieing it's a good population I find, Slight bit "smaller" teams, more strategy (Hero AI movement, Skills and stat placement, Map Effects and advantages)
Sum up these long *** paragraphs for PVP
Guildwars: Strategy, Skill placement, Map (bows get more damage for being on a cliff hitting a guy below it and cover too blocks arrows)
WoW: Larger, More Chaotic, Items and talent builds, Class (Lets have fun with Heal paladin vs Shadow Priest... oh i have a feeling that Mind control is going to screw over the paladin "just" a slight bit by running him off to a mob, off the world (outlands), into the shadow priests team (Heh yep i loved being a shadow priest)
then again sayying guild wars can have some cheap builds... like Earth/ Insp Mesmer Never loose mana, take no damage (yep even from assassin crit with a skill) and take 120 dmg every hit... (seeing how 1000 is alot)
then again this is "my" view of two good MMO's Guild wars and WoW
in the end though if WoW had no subscription i would still play GW... why because i enjoy unlocking all those freakin achievements... (10 mins away from achieveing drunkard Yey!)
