Wii contest death yields no criminal charges

*Not too sure I wanna post the picture of the "victim" here ...*

KCRA in Sacramento has reported that no charges will be filed in the death of Jennifer Strange, who passed away after trying to win a Wii in a radio contest earlier this year.

Strange, who did not win the system, attempted to keep herself from urinating after drinking nearly two gallons of water as part of the "Hold Your Wee for a Wii" contest held by 107.9 The End. Her body was found in her home hours after the contest ended.

Jan Scully, the district attorney of Sacramento County, said in a written statement that the radio station's actions did not rise to the level of criminal activity. "Jennifer Strange was an adult who was voluntarily participating in the radio contest," Scully's office wrote. "She knew what the contest involved when she entered it, and had the option to stop or discontinue her participation in the contest at any time."

The civil suit filed by Strange's family has not yet been resolved. Though no charges have been filed, there have been repercussions at the station after Strange's death. The morning show that hosted the contest was canceled and 10 staffers at the station were fired.

Woah, that definatly sucks. The contest holders should think of the consequences when holding a contest that could cause harm. Those morons.

Well, its not really their fault.

I read about this. She died because she drank too much water. Needless to say, too much of anything will kill you.

Well, it was all her fault. As it said, she knew the repercussions and it also clearly states that she contained the water inside her body for a long period of time. She probably had too take a piss, but didn't. Seriously, people get stupider everyday...

And why the station was closed down is beyond me. It wasn't even their fault! She participated knowing what she had to do, and she followed through with it. So friggin stupid...

Alot of water is good for you. Just not when you drink 2 gallons in that amount of time and hold it in like she did.

I didn't even know too much water could kill you before this happened (which was along time ago, this is really old.)

Blaming it on her is just stupid, unless she knew beforehand what it could do. Either way you guys take death way too lightly. Those children don't have a mom now because of some stupid mistake and you guys are insulting her. Show some respect for the dead people.

we all take death lightly because it realy isnt a big deal. Nobody knows what happens when you die, because anyone who has tried has been unable to come back and tell us. Im pretty curious as to what happens. But whats likely is that you just go to sleep, forever.

The kids have no mum now, its happened, there is nothing we can do about it.

If you had taken the time to read this topic through, nobody is blaming her. People say "idiot", but its not blaming her, she didnt know that she was gonna kill herself.

respect? if you died from not pissing out 2 gallons of water, I think someone would take the piss.

This post could seem harsh, but its the truth, and thats all there is too it, everyone has their own opinions on the subject, but to me, death isnt a worry. Pain is, but not death.

Maybe the station could have posted a notice about the dangers of drinking so much water before allowing the people to sign up ... ~

Well, it was all her fault.

This is the first sentence of the post I quoted. Looks like he's blaming her to me. Maybe you should read before you tell me to read.

You cannot honestly tell me that you didn't know holding in a piss was bad...

Yes, you can die from it, and if people had common ****ing sense, they'd realize that! It's a bodily function that has to be performed. If not, your bladder inflates, and you face the risk of it exploding. Which, in case you didn't know, would kill you.
