So I stole some Magnesium Ribbons from my school's chemistry lab the other day, it was fun to play with them making all those bright flashes. So I googled abit on stuff I could do with it, then my friend suggested a Flashbang. Lol, so I've found some ideas about making some home made flash film canisters. XD

What I need is:
Black Powder (Gun Powder?)
4.5 grams of a pyrotechnic metal-oxidant mix of magnesium and ammonium perchlorate

Anyone know where to get those or how? XD Or could you guys recommend something more fun and... *ahem* less dangerous to do? :D

you do know you can suffer blindness from magnesium ribbons if they're lighted and you forgot to put on goggles.

Making your own homemade flashbangs is a safe as putting a lighted firecracker in a cats mouth and letting it run around in oil depot.

the reason i strongly advise to not do that is because i've seen such an accident before during chemistry class. It's a very bad side effect, she lost her sight for a few days.

I suggest throwing some rusty nails and/or staples into your project. For added fun.

What's the point of making a flashbang? Sure it's fun in CS and blinds you for a few seconds but I bet in RL it 'd just make you blind, or make your eyes hurt a lot. So I don't see the fun in that :hmm:

pyrotectics is so fun. I suggest you go into the country (if your state has one??) because it's usually legal to set off firecrackers. Hell, you can walk down the street with a 12 guage and nobody'll say shit to you. Here's a great idea. You know the whole pickle to make a lightbulb light, well try it with the mag sticks. I mean, what could it hurt? Yourself? Psshh, Pyrotectics isn't dangerous. Actually, you should run a test to see what uses more power. My Hemi-equipped PS3 or setting off a flashbang.

Either way roll up the Mg strips, coat with gunpowder(like shitloads of it) and wrap TIGHTLY with layers of paper. The tighter the layer the louder the bang. The more paper the softer the bang and explosion. Around 10 sheets of 8 by 11 paper should be the right dose to give you a non fatal explosion. Then poke a hole using a pin. Coat the thread with gunpowder insert te thread and light away.

Be careful or wear sunglasses.

Well if you want gunpowder, my friend has about a kilo of it. The ****ing spaz buys it off ebay using his dads credit card. I've seen his big fireworks, or his 'big *****es' as he likes to call em. For when he 'blows shit up' :p.

Raiyne, that's going medieval there. It takes sulfur and ash and all sorts of crap. and to the guy who said that you should just rip open bullets... wow. guess what happens then? there is something inside bullets that make them go off when struck hard enough, not just gunpowder. and that will go off and blue up the bullet in your face. some bullets, you might be able to, but you would need to rip open about twenty of them.

I just need...

Potassium Nitrate or Sodium Nitrate (Substitute with Saltpeter?)
Wood charcoal
Sulfur, powdered (I have no idea how to get this)

well raiyne i persoanlly havent made a flash bang. however fireworks are legal in India during certain times of the year. I personally have only taken apart a firework cause i dont wanna risk making my own faulty one.

Anyway the small magnesium balls are miniature sorta like mini BB gun bullets and they are surrounded by gunpowder.

India is close to Singapore and firework season is in a month maybe you could import some:D

Either way rolling the strips up creates a similar effect but the Mg burns faster which isnt a good thing for a flash bang cause u really want a long burn.

Anyway to make homemade gunpowder you need saltpeter, charcoal and sulfur. I personally think those ingrediants shouldnt be too hard to gather especially for someone that jacked Mg strips from a chem lab:D XD
