Start as a Ranger, its the most versatile profession there is.. although its pretty hard to get in groups as them cause they're also the most underrated profession -_-;

Yes yes, mesmers are very rare - coz they are an awkward class, very food 2nd profs though. I started as a warrior necromancer - i didnt egt to find out how he went coz my firned deleted him on a loan >_>

anyways consider these things before starting:

Warriors - we have enough already, though they are still wanted (W/Mo is best for a starter)

Ranger - fairly okay - not really wanted though.

Mesmer - rare, not the greatest starting class

Necromancer - i'd say this is your best shot - fair middle class

Ritualist - yeh they're okay - a good support charcter for a starter

Assassin - dont, please, dont chose this charcter. 12 yr old assassins who cant follow advice already over run cantha

elementist - pretty good for a starter - as good chance as necro has for starting up

monk - please. dont pick this until you can take the responsibility of a monk.
id make him your 3rd/4th charcter

remember - you want to be needed - others wise you'll get stuffed up at the harder mission where henchmen are a waste of time.

Mesmers are way too hard to play if you just start out.. just as a Curse necro is.. >.>

Warrior is the best for starter character, they have the highest armor, and your job is to charge towards your enemy.

Ranger is another best starter character, but remember your role is support.

Mesmer - don't bother, they inflict "internal" damage and weaken your enemy, Hard for starters.

Assassin - Be one if you like combo, and able to create a good combo which can kill your opponent with a single /-X-(X) combo. Assassin can use their shadow step skill to lure enemies. (Assassin isn't a good tanker, they often die)

Necro - try it, MM is a good build.

Elementalist - Another good support role, but yet their max armor is 60. They can increase their amount of energy (Energy Storage). Be one if you like magics.

Ritualist - Never create a Rt char before, no comment.

Monk - Never create a monk char before, but they denifitely not a good starter character.

for 2nd prof, choose any that suits you.

Warrior is not good for starting, cause luring well is actually quite... hard >.>

Ranger is best for starting, decent armor/ easy to use skills/ high damage output if you use them quite well.. and if you begin as one you get a large amount of knowledge of the game cause they hold almost every aspect of the game

a decent W WITHOUT healing can kill an Assassin with ease

W/Mo is best for newbs, super tanker with protection spells omg h4x! Lol nah not really, but its less complicated to play compared to the Mesmer. although Mesmers are t3h ownage in PvP :D

there is no profession that is better than the others. they all have their own advantages and disadvantages... but if you are just starting out, i would making a pvp first to see how u like the combo, and when you make a pve, try to make either 1 or 2nd monk. once you get good at the game, you prob wont need to do this
