Dell is leading the market in computers sold or it could be a close second to HP i don't quite remember. Companies still make new ones with XP.

definately 400$, trust me with 500+ dollars I can build a nice C2D machine. Thats a weak computer.

Tell ya what, this is what I do for a living buying and selling new and used PCs so break down the specs a lil more and Ill give ya a rough wholesale and retail in my area for a used PC like that. What I see up there is two different CPU descriptions mixed. You cant have a Dual p4 HT which would mean INTEL and an X2 4800+ which would mean AMD in the same PC. Give me the full details and Ill hit ya back on it I'm guessing its an AMD x2 4800+ ? What socket 939 or AM2? Does it have a DVDRW or CDRW?

Are you looking for a price on yours too? Ok if so here goes. Wholesale pricing doesn't take into account any software other than the OS and all computers should come with keyboard and mouse so don't expect extra for those unless you have some wizbang wireless setup with lots of lights to wow people.

Monitor, depends on flat panel or CRT. If crt 17" used CRT whole sale is about 10-20.00 USD retail is around $50.00 for great condition used 17" crt.
If it is an LCD 17" .. wholesale is around 70.00 Retailing around 120 USd for name brand monitors, generics are 50 wholeslae and 99 retail.

The Computer.... A new Pentium D 3.2 GHz same specs can be purchased for around $599 USD with basic speakers. Wholesale would be around 160-200 for the tower with a retail of 400 - 450 USD depending on condition (450 includes your speaker setup).

Keep in mind the retail is what you would find in a store that offers at least a 90 day warranty on Used Machines, not the ebay you are stuck with some body else's problem pricing. My machines are heavily tested and inspected prior to buying them so they are all in great working order and the OS is totally wiped and reloaded. So some amount of prep goes into that pricing.

Also those are going rates for Mid Southern United States.
