US town set to ban saggy trousers

Low-slung trousers are fashionable among some young people
A mayor in the US state of Louisiana says he will sign into law a proposal to make wearing saggy trousers an act of indecent exposure.

Delcambre town council unanimously passed the ordinance earlier this week making it a crime to wear trousers that show underwear.

"If you expose your private parts, you'll get a fine" of US$500 (£254) Mayor Carol Broussard said.

Offenders will also risk up to six months in jail.

Fashionable

Speaking of people who wear saggy trousers, Mr Broussard told the Associated Press news agency: "They're better off taking the pants off and just wearing a dress."

White people wear sagging pants, too

Town attorney Ted Ayo said the ordinance expands on the existing state indecent exposure law by adding underwear to the list of forbidden exposures.

"This is a new ordinance that deals specifically with sagging pants," Mr Ayo said. "It's about showing off your underwear in public."

Some residents say the ordinance targets blacks, as low-slung trousers are fashionable among hip hop fans.

Mr Broussard denied it was racially motivated.

"White people wear sagging pants, too," he said.

Gentlemen, man the harpoons.

What's so good about saggy pants in the first place?

Psh, banned. That's stupid unless you're one of those people that don't wear anything underneath it. But boxers look just like swim trunks. I think it should be out of their own idiocy for not wearing pants that fit. I don't think it's attractive to see men crossing the street at my school, trying to jog with their pants down at their feet. If they want to make fools of themselves, let them.

Exactly. 6 months in jail? That is a load of crap.

Let the people wear what they want to wear. If half of them knew the history behind sagging trousers, they wouldn't do it. But, pop culture makes it out as a fashion sense. =/

I mean, who wants to brag that their ass was taken by some husky, 8 foot tall ogre in the local state penitentiary? Besides Hard Gay.

Anyhow, this law is a load of raw horse shit.

Like I said, sagging originated in prisons. Though it wasn't often, if you were unlucky enough to have your ass-ginity taken, you'd usually sag your pants down to show that you were taken.

Oh, I thought you were refering to what would happen if they had went to prison for having their pants sagging. This makes me laugh.

God, the "right to wear whatever the fuck you want" should be in the constitution.

Indecent exposure? Please. It sounds to me like a bunch of old people in office and "town councils" are just bored and figure they might as well ban something, just for the hell of it, and what better then those filthy things kids wear these days?

Goooooo, anarchy.

Well, baggy pants are pretty dern gay. This one fresh from the hood kid in my school wears stuff that seems twice his size. It was hilarious watching him do jumping jacks in PE.

I dunno. I like baggy pants. They're funny.

Last year some kid's pants fell down to his ankles while he was going up the stairs at my school...he lost it and fell, dropped all his stuff, pants included. It was great.

Few years ago I saw a kid walking across the street, trying to dig something out of his pocket or something. They fell, in front of a busy street, then he also tripped.

P.E......pantsing marathon. Only, there were only pants-ees, no pants-ers, if you get my drift.

If you are going to wear baggy pants, how about a belt?
