I'm just curious what everyone here uses. I prefer Winamp because of all the skins you can get for it.

For music, winamp.
First, the large file support(and for what files it does not support natively, you can get a plug-in for that). Then the Milkdrop plug-in, music has never looking more amazing. It's very customizable, is feature full, and has one of the most extensive library management systems out of any media player I've seen.
The only music player that I'd compare to it would be Foobar, which in a lot of ways is basically just the same thing.
When it comes to videos, I most often use Media Player Classic with the K-Light Mega Pack. Lightweight, and I can play any format you throw at me.

The best way to put it is, it's the Linux of media players in that it is extremely customizable.
The defualt player isn't much. But put time and effort into it, and it will be the best player you'll ever have. Thats the only reason why I don't use it really. I have better things to spend my time on than configuring my media player. As long as I can do what I want to do, I'm happy
I've seen some configurations of it that are really beautiful.
But, again, you need to put time and effort into it to really make it a worth while player, and if you don't feel like doing that, I suggest winamp and a few plug-ins so that it works the way you want.
Winamp even has MP3 player support(including iPods)

Btw what does foobar have that's unique to other players? List features please.I use Foobar2000 because it has lots of customization. It' very barebones initially with excellent playback quality. However, if you take the time to look at available addons or work on your own custom plugins you start to see it's beauty. Out of the box so to speak it has Replaygain, a scripting language for audio files (TAGZ), gapless song playability, unicode support, and uses virtually no system resources during playback. I love it because it has only what I give it and not a lot of crap taking up space and resources.
Winamp even has MP3 player support(including iPods)Foobar2000 has full MP3 player support through Foo_Pod and iPOD Manager plugins.

Winamp for music. The Winamp 2006 skin is the best, and I hesitently wait for Aizen 2.
For movies and other media I use KMPlayer. It is along the same lines as VLC player except its constantly being developed and Beta's are released often and is just all around better in my opinion since it plays all formats to my knowledge and gives you lots of control over the filters.

For a lot of purposes, winamp and foobar are nearly the same thing.
Both are created by the same people, using the same basic coded base of a player.
Thats why a ton of winamp plugins also work for foobar.
Infact, I'd say that foobar is the linux of music players, winamp is the OSX of music players, and itunes is the windows of music players.
One is powerful and highly customizable, the second one is a lot like the first one, only most of the work is already done and it's pre-compiled, ready to go(easy to use). And then the last one looks nice at first, until it starts eating up a ton of your resources, supports hardly any file formats, can't really customize it, ect.

God, those ones are as bad as wmp ones.
You want nice visuals, milkdrop is where it's at.
First, unlike all the other visualizers that use the CPU to render, milk drop uses the GPU(so it's faster, smoother, and prettier).
Take a look at these samples:
http://youtube.com/watch?v=md8BeosGiLI
http://youtube.com/watch?v=nR4GFIPykx4
http://youtube.com/watch?v=TmBNkX5iTiU
Excuse that last vid in it's quality. It's a long clip, and I couldn't fit the while thing in at a decent quality, but it gives you an idea of the range of milkdrop.
Get the right presets, and you'll have musical orgasms from your eyes.
And here are some screenshots:

And heres the download page, if you're interested:

(oh, and I suggest that you go into the settings and change the graphical settings to better suit your system, turning them up or down, or what ever)

i use win media player because im an idiot. its such a pile of crap, it constantly has problems with practically all file formats and often decides to be retarded when you are watching videos and the sound starts going out of sync.
i just downloaded vlc.

note: Mind me skippinf the rest of the thread, I'm in a hurry.
I find this poll rather impossible. Some of us have three or even four media players on our systems (If you'r a fansub watcher then you know what I mean)
I use WMP, Core Codec Media Player, Zoom player, and DivX.

I just use iTunes. Because its easy to use. I can make play lists real easy, manage a big library, its compatible with my ipod...and I see no real reasons for anyone to not like it except "eww, itunes and ipods are just fads."
