Ive seen quite a few series, many i stop within the first episode for some of many reasons.

My most favorites are:
Death Note
Gungrave
Elfen Lied
Neon Genesis Evangelion

Keep in mind(especially those who are going to flame me for liking animes) that:
I enjoy Japanese Animations because -well- those japanese really kno how to put deep meaning into the art of cartoon. Japanese Animations exaggerate feeling through its art n shows them through exaggerated expressions. They go deep into the literature meaning to represent more than just suspense.

So:
Dont suggest anything based on its action- because then i might as well watch an American cartoon and see the wonderful adventures of batman.

There is a sub-forum called "" Anime Nation "" f.y.i .

Try Noein.

Strawberry Panic! (I'm not exclamating. That's the name.)

Those lesbians own your face.

Anyhow, try Last Exile. And for laughs, try Crayon Shin Chan, Magical Shopping Arcade Abenobashi, and Cromartie High.

Shin Chan (watch the dubs, they're funnier):

anime nation? i dont see it =@

K i'll try Noein

Cereal&Milk:

I'm pretty sure the creators of your animes you suggested have no artistic values at all. How can they express a deeper meaning if they cant even create an attractive animation? 2 thumbs down.

Being attractive has nothing to do with being able to enjoy it. The three of those shows are very well meant for a good time. They are supposed to convey a feeling of happiness. Get that straightened out.

And look into Last Exile if you're only interested in art.

Last Exile is an orgasm in anime form.

If you want something that'll screw with your head, watch "Serial Experiment Lain".

Also try Cowboy Bebop and Samurai Champloo.

I dont like gungrave for the action btw.
It was great for how it showed their relationship as they went through their whole life and showing another generation of Maria. Awwwe it was awwesomme.

*just to make sure devil may cry is for me. My friend told me, OH IF YOU LOVED GUNGRAVE YOUR GOING TO LOVVVEEE HELSING. - and it was probably 1 of the worst ive seen loll

If you are into those, try out Samurai Champloo, Noein, and Last Exile for sure. I know they have already been said, but a second opinion never hurts.

Also, give Eureka 7 a shot. Its pretty good.

And when Devil May Cry gets up to speed, watch that too. I actually enjoyed watching the anime's first episode. So...Much...Blood!

I wonder how long it will take for them to sub all twelve episodes? They're taking forever to sub number two and it's been out for a while. =/

If ur into anime's with deep meaning then I LUV U....lol jokes, but still thats pretty much what I am into too, I luved all the anime's you said you liked except I havn't watched gungrave yet..!

My suggestions if you want a really good story plot....hmmm try Rurouni Kenshin, Naruto ( gets more serious as the show goes on but still its over rated), both of these have action but ther is a deep story that goes behind each thing...thats what I love, wel I would suggest more but ahhh i cant think....

If you got a gamecube then buy Tales of Symphonia, Its extremly deep, i mean like that game was a total anime....seriously the entire thing was full of cut scenes, but they all have voice actors!... Seriously I would think that Neon Genisis Evangalion, Elfend Lied, and Tales of Symphonia are my 3 ausome deepest Animes!

Berserk (classic, if you haven't seen this watch it right now!)

GUNxSWORD (pretty cool anime)
